Welcome to The Base Line, Official Newsletter of the Woy Woy Tennis Club.

From the President

Well what a month March has turned out to be.

If over the last month you have been a regular down at the club you will have noticed that court 2 has been " A swimming pool, a turf farm ,a hard court and now thanks to "Debbie" back to a swimming pool again " Unfortunately the club and the contractors have had very little help with the weather with more rain than sunshine over march.

We were planning to have had court 2 finished and up and running at the end of March But you know what they say "Best laid plans". However the contractors believe with a run of 4 or 5 fine days they will have the new SYNTHETIC GRASS rolled out and ready for play.

The old synthetic grass is now up in rolls if you are interested in some please contact the club.

You may have also noticed that the club suffered some fencing damage in last weeks storm with courts 1 & 4 bearing the brunt of the damage. We are working with CCC on a repair and replacement plan.

On another note it was with great excitement last month we announced that we had received the grant of $900,000 in conjunction with our neighbours WWFC for the redevelopment of our facilities. As the month has gone on, reality has set in. You can read the full story below, and I urge you to all take the time and send through your thoughts.

Till next time, see you on the court,

Tony Carey

Coaches Corner

Sadly this will be my final Coaches Corner. Due to family needs, I will be leaving the Club at the end of the Month. It was by no means an easy decision. Over the past several years, working the WWTC has been an absolute privilege. To see young players develop and progress through each stage has been an immensely rewarding experience.

I will be venturing north to Queensland which marks the beginning of a new chapter for me and my family. As we depart we leave with the best of memories of our time with you all.

Thank you for the wonderful memories and the life time of friends and family.

A big thank you to the Committee of the Club who have been fantastic in supporting my coaching ambitions. Your support and confidence have been amazing.

With the new coach to be announced shortly, I wish them the very best and ask that you all do what you do best - keep hitting.

Kind regards,

WWTC Redevelopment Update
Members & Guests,

As you are aware, we have been successful in securing a $900,000 grant from Council to undertake a redevelopment of the Clubs facilities in conjunction with our neighbours, the WWFC.

During an initial meeting, council provided the Club with an example plan for a structure that would cost up-to $600,000 as a preferred option for the redevelopment. Above are the images of the structure that has been built at Hilton Moore for the ALF club.

This facility would also be shared with the WWFC. IE: Shared Men's and Ladies' toilets and shared kitchen facilities. During the meeting, Council indicated this is their preferred option.

One of the points of interest, $300,000 of the $900,000 will be allocated for upgrades to the public parking facilities surrounding the complex.

We will be, over the lead up to the design phase discussing with Council what standards, clubs similar to ours should look and feel like.

We are consulting with Tennis Australia who have offered to help during the consultation process to ensure a positive outcome for WWTC.

The club is seeking members thoughts of what so far has been presented to us. Your input is vital and will reflect what direction is taken in future discussions with CCC.  Please submit a short comment in writing and send it to us (via email to or in writing and deliver it to Ben) so that we can provide council with a record of your thoughts (good or bad)

Kind regards,

WWTC Committee

WWTC Serves Up for Mary Macs

Our Club has been fortunate to receive wonderful support from our Community throughout the years, now we have the opportunity to give something back.

Give what you can, and what you think will help those in need. Mary Macs  a Woy Woy based care centre provides homeless persons within our community a safe place to eat, shower and wash their clothes, so if you think of something that could aid in this endeavour, send it through.

For more information and or to make a donation, see either one of our Committee Members or email the club at

All too often are we guilty for taking the simplest things for granted. For some, food insecurity is an everyday problem. Our Club is no stranger to the plight and reality of homelessness within our Community; which is why from March to May our Club is asking you to donate non-perishable foods. Together our Club can help those in need as we head into winter.
