MORE FIT FUNDING FOR GRADUATE RESEARCH STUDENTS
FUNDING INCREASE !!
MORE FIT FUNDING FOR AUSTRALIAN BASED GRADUATE RESEARCH STUDENTS
The Faculty has increased the designated funding it allocates to each of our currently enrolled (Australain campus based) Graduate Research Student (PhD, Monash and MPhil) to support your candidature. These funds can be used for: travel, fieldwork, and data collection,  specialised training, and specialised equipment to support research being conducted as part of your candidature.
* Up from $3000 to $4000 for PhD students commencing candidature in 2017 for the duration of their candidature.
* An extra $1000 for all currently enrolledPhD students bringing total to $4000 for the duration of their candidature.
* Up from $1500 to $2000  for MPhil students commencing candidature in 2017 for the duration of their candidature.
* An extra $500 for all currently enrolled MPhil students bringing the total to $2000  for the duration of their candidature.

Professor Pankaj Jalote, Director of IIIT-Delhi, a young, research-led Institution of state of Delhi, with focus on CS/IT and related and interdisciplinary areas, visited FIT and outlined opportunities at the IIIT. Currently, in the midst of a major expansion, the IIIT is looking to recruit high-quality faculty staff (new PhDs and post-docs) in various disciplines who can conduct research and education at international levels. Celebrating Nowruz
Celebrating Nowruz 
Nowruz is Iranian New Year and our gracious hosts at the FIT Caulfield 
campus celebration were our PhD students Mozhdeh Dehghani and Sanaz Nikfalzar. They created an amazing traditional celebration feast including the Haft Seen - the seven items starting with the letter 'S". They are pictured  l-r with Larry Stillman, Mozhdeh, Mohsen Moradi, Sue McKemmish , Sanaz Niflazar, Hadi Akbarzade. Nowruz has been celebrated for over 3,000 years by mainly Iranian people in the Balkans, the Black Sea Basin, the Caucasus, Central Asia and the Middle East. If you wish to read more click here

Melbourne Data Science Week

Two sold out events from 2016 are combining in 2017 to create what will hopefully be a great Data Science-palooza for Melbourne. Volunteer needed - receive 'Free' registration to a $500 conference

The 2017 International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging is in Melbourne this year from April 18 - 21. We're looking for volunteers who are willing to put in 10-12 hours throughout the conference, in exchange for free registration (that's approx. $50 an hour). The volunteering will be things like helping with the poster sessions, sitting at the registration desk or roving with a microphone. 16 spots left. Interested? Contact phillip.ward@monash.edu.
