A Unified Drive. A United Force.

1. Roane ECD: On June 17, the Roane County Industrial Development Board closed on one of the largest industrial sites in the Roane Regional Business & Technology Park. The TPA Group, a developer from Atlanta, purchased the entire 40-acre Jones Road Site for $1.3M, with plans to build a 250,000 square foot speculative building, a total planned investment of $32M.

“There are three State Certified sites in Roane County, and we have sold two of the three within about a year,” said Vice President of Economic Development, Justin Snow, Roane Alliance, “not to mention, the amount of attention the Jones Road site is getting, now that we will have an existing building to offer, which is one of the top requests from new or expanding industrial prospect. We estimated and announced $21.5M in new investment in our industrial parks last year, but it's actually closer to $41M, with this project bringing the largest investment.”

2. Education Matters: tnAchieves mentors are needed in Roane County and across the state to support and encourage students as we work to reverse negative community and technical college enrollment trends stemming from the pandemic.
With the Tennessee Promise last-dollar scholarship program, every student graduating from a Tennessee high school has the opportunity to attend a Tennessee community college or a Tennessee College of Applied Technology. And, to help the students transition from high school to college, they are assigned a tnAchieves mentor.

tnAchieve mentors play a critical role in the success of our students. Mentors serve as a resource, share their own experiences, and offer encouragement and support. As a result, mentors impact student success, and that success can have a favorable impact that lasts for generations and transforms our communities. Learn more about becoming a tnAchieves mentor and apply to be a mentor.

3. Roane Chamber: The Roane Chamber will host a free Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) Webinar, presented by William Cash (Director, EEOC Little Rock Area Office), on August 24, at 10am.

Reasonable accommodation is not new, yet questions persist about navigating the reasonable accommodation interactive process. This session explores the requirement to provide reasonable accommodation, the guidance on reasonable accommodation, and the emerging issues in reasonable accommodation. Register here!

4. Jingle & Mingle Market: Exciting news! The 3rd annual Jingle & Mingle Market will be held the 1st weekend of November at The Venue at Lakeview Point (formerly NOAH'S Event Venue, 1200 Ladd Landing Blvd., Kingston)!

5. The Roane Alliance: The Roane Alliance's Annual Report is now available! Copies are available at the Alliance's office (1209 N. Kentucky St., Kingston) and can be found virtually here.
