Dear Parents & well-wishers Assalamualaikum Wr Wb,
It is finally getting warm, we might get early spring this year. The winter break was relaxing but I always enjoy getting back to my routine. One of the first things on my January to-do list was sharing the January newsletter with you all. Annoor’ s Newsletter is full of pictures & student highlights, information from staff members, and resources to help you understand where we stand. I was reading through my CDA (Childhood Development Associate) course book and it said that a good Childcare institute/school is the one undergoing periodic evaluation. This newsletter gives us the opportunity for the same, to evaluate the achievements of the past month and set goals for the next.
We are in the middle of Quarter 2 and lessons are in full swing. All teachers are working hard to complete their syllabus on time. We are also preparing the kids for the upcoming IOWA tests from the public school.
This month we had one more addition to the Annoor family – Sr Ieshia who has recently moved from Monroe, Louisiana. She is perfect for the Pre-K room, lots of fun and energy. More details later in the newsletter.
Islamic studies update:
Our day starts with the assembly, which is rich in Islamic education, like, stories of Prophets, Islamic etiquettes, Duas of knowledge, word by word meaning of Surah Fatiha, Falaq, Naas and Ikhlas. We also cover short tafseer of these surahs.
During the day, the kids get another 45mins to 1hr slot depending on their age group of Islamic studies & quran memorization. During this time we focus more on the Noorat curriculum for Islamic studies. Besides doing our daily Duhr prayer, we also give special emphasis on practicing sunnahs of Prophet (SAW) for eating, drinking, using the bathroom, going out, sleeping, etc.
I am very picky about who we expose our kids to, because teachers are role models for the kids. Hence, it took me a while to find the right teacher. But I am very pleased to introduce Sr. Ieshia – our new Pre-K teacher. She is born and brought up in United states. She recently moved to Bentonville with her family from Monroe, Louisiana. She has had 3 yrs of experience in Child care and is also working on completing her CDA course. She is fun and loves teaching younger kids. She is a revert Muslim and has been practicing Islam since past 4 years. Welcome Sr. Ieshia!!
W2s and Donation Receipts:
W2s have been handed over to all the employees. We will soon be sending out Thank you letters and Donation receipts to all community members who have donated to Annoor Academy. Please expect to see this in your mailbox by Feb 15th 2017.
From Teacher’s Desk (Ms. Sairish):
Alhamdulillah it is a great pleasure to be a part of the Annoor team. Every day is filled with exciting activities for our students who come to school with the eagerness to learn something new. There has been a tremendous progress in our students’ achievements since the beginning of the school year. All our students have achieved advanced grading, which is above their grade level in every subject. Since our kids have scored advanced in all their dibels tests, we are building our students learning skills accordingly. Teachers of Annoor Academy are always striving to bring out the best in every child.
We work hard and then we party hard… every Friday at Annoor is celebrated in a big way. Kids put coins into the Sadaqa box in the morning. During Math class, elementary kids get to play with puzzles and other toys that Ms. Maria brings. They also get to choose from the treasure chest based on their good behavior throughout the week. Kids look forward to Friday. I want to thank Ms. Maria for implementing this program.
Lastly, please remember to spread the word about the school. Every kid that joins the school will be a sadaqa-e-jariya for you and most important of all please continue to make du'a.
Principal, Annoor Academy of Bentonville.
