March 2019

In Like a Lioness

My mother still says, "in like a lion, out like a lamb" every March expressing hopes that spring is finally around the corner as the days get longer and the sun gets stronger and we optimistically await the arrival of the first snowdrops and crocuses.

“My father was often impatient during March, waiting for winter to end, the cold to ease, the sun to reappear. March was an unpredictable month, when it was never clear what might happen. Warm days raised hopes until ice and grey skies shut over the town again."

CIO of the Year Awards and Support for RedChairPGH

RedChairPGH mission focuses on our local Pittsburgh region.  We believe that our regional focus allows us to create the relationships and continuity that enables real change here in our own back yard. We seek to correct the gender imbalance in our region’s technical professions, focusing on mid-career women in tech to ensure that all of the hard work done to get girls interested in STEM and young women graduating into tech careers isn't lost.  Statistics say women leave tech careers mid-career at twice the rate of men.

We have a great partnership with the Pittsburgh Technology Council who generously has offered their annual CIO of the Year Awards charity fundraiser to help RedChairPGH send women to the Edge experience.

Here's how you can help:
As a CIO or someone with decision-making capacity for your organizations technology, offer your time as part of a silent auction event.  Past executives have offered time at sporting events, or a speaker series.  We'll send links once they are ready!

#sitwithme

RedchairPGH is a network of women and men who are committed to creating gender balance in the Pittsburgh technology professions. We believe diverse teams increase innovation, opportunity and organizational results.
