Good News

Tenants doing it for themselves!

Old Oak Housing Co-operative are coming up to the end of their first year in their new homes.  They have produced a video showing members of the co-operative talking about how their lives have changed, what living in a co-operative means to them... you can view it here.
And the logo?   Their own logo, designed by one of the members!

Fire Pit evenings in Blaenymaes

You may have seen the teams hanging out on street corners in Blaenymaes lately…and wondered what on earth was going on: Marshmallows, hot chocolate, tea, coffee and a chat.
The team in 104 Community House have decided to come out of the building and chat with residents in the area to find out more about community life and how we can improve our services in the area.
If you are passing or want to come and have a chat (roast a marshmallow or two) follow us on Facebook to find out where we are, and how your feedback will be influencing services at the 104.
Tenants & staff raise cash for Children in Need
We are really proud of our tenants and staff who raised a magnificent £3,414.90 in November for Children In Need.

Tenants in Llys Dewi Sant, one of our sheltered housing schemes in Swansea, raised £662 by selling hand knitted & crochet crafts and homemade marmalade, bric a brac, refreshments and a raffle.

35 staff from Pobl's Swansea & Newport offices went on an epic run to transport a Pudsey bear 55 miles across south wales.  Starting at 8am in Pobl’s Newport Office and finishing at 5.40pm at the Kingsway office in Swansea.  The journey was split into 14 stages, varying from 1 mile to 6 miles, and followed a course through villages and towns in the south Wales region and past supported housing schemes dotted across the route.  As the day went on our runners donned more Pudsey items, a group even ran in Pudsey onesies.  A total of £1407.95 was raised!
In addition one of our Executive Directors fasted for an incredible 18 days, eating only 400 calories per day, and raised £1,187 whilst one of our finance staff in Swansea dressed as Batman for the day and raised a ‘Holy £207.95’.

Well done to everyone for all their efforts!

The gift of giving

We are really proud of our staff who keep the spirit of Christmas going all year round with their amazing generosity & goodwill.
Boxes of food were donated to Trussell Trust Foodbanks in Swansea & Newport via POBL food drive, eight shoebox gifts, which included essentials such as socks, gloves and toothpaste plus chocolate goodies and a card, were donated to Swansea YMCA for homeless people and an incredible 18 gifts were donated to Swansea's Mr X appeal giving children across the city what may be one of their only gifts this Christmas.

Our journey for better customer service

Good customer service is an important part of who we are and what we do so it is vital that the services we provide to our customers reflect the Pobl values; Positive, Connected and Considerate.
With this in mind Pobl are working to achieve The Institute of Customer Service ServiceMark that demonstrates an organisation's commitment to excellent customer service and ongoing improvement.
We carried out a survey in November to gather staff and customer feedback and we received over 700 responses from our tenants which was a fantastic result. We are currently awaiting the survey results.

Our New Developments

War Memorial Hospital given new lease of life

In early October 2017 the conversion of a former cottage hospital in Clydach in the Swansea Valley was successfully completed. Founded in 1924, Clydach War Memorial Hospital was built and paid for by the community through public subscriptions to support veterans returning from WWI. The historic part of the hospital, which includes the War Memorial itself, has now been converted into apartments specifically for ex-servicemen and women. The apartments form part of our larger development, Clos Coffa translated as Remembrance Close, where another 8 family homes and 2 bungalows have been built to provide much-needed affordable accommodation locally.
