Dear Colleagues,

Over the last few weeks, we've seen a significant uptick in CMS enforcement letters sent out to hospitals.

In almost every case, the hospital relied on a vendor (not us!) to just publish a modified chargemaster to meet compliance... wrong.

Here's an example of a CMS non-compliance letter, sent via Certified Mail:

The law is very clear that for packaged services (e.g., outpatient surgeries), all items and services that typically accompany the primary service must be included in the 5 required charges in the machine-readable file AND the consumer-friendly application:

Expect to see more letters like this, especially as patients rights advocacy groups, such as Susan Sarandon's "Power to the Patients" turn up the pressure.

If your hospital received a compliance letter from CMS and needs to respond within 90 days, HPS is here to help.  Feel free to schedule a time to talk on my private calendar:  go.oncehub.com/ricklouie

We can help you become fully compliant in a short amount of time, and done in such a way that won't break your budget.
