Renovate Europe held its sixth edition of Renovate Europe Day (REDay2016) on 13th October in Brussels, attended by over 100 participants and under the patronage of the Slovak Presidency of the EU, with a focus on how achieving an NZEB building stock by 2050 can boost EU jobs, growth and SMEs and increase benefits to EU citizens and businesses. REDay2016 included afternoon site visits of renovation projects in Brussels, in partnership with Bruxelles Environnement.

LUNCH-DEBATE WITH EP INVESTMENT INTERGROUP
On 20th October, MEPs from the Long-term Investment Intergroup joined Renovate Europe to discuss how to set a long-term investment framework for the energy renovation market. Hosted by Vice-President MEP Bonafé and moderated by MEP Leinen, this lunch debate welcomed speeches from Mr Gerassimos Thomas (Vice-Director DG Energy and Chairman of EFSI Steering Board) and Mr Luca Bertalot from the European Mortgage Federation.

RENOVATE EUROPE EXPANDS TO IRELAND
Renovate Europe is pleased to welcome the Irish Green Building Council onboard. Renovate Europe now has National Partners in 14 EU Member States. Learn more about renovation in Ireland on the Renovate Europe website.
"We believe that political leadership is needed and that the Renovate Europe Campaign can significantly help us in raising deep renovation awareness among politicians and decision-makers. Joining an EU-wide campaign such as Renovate Europe is also a fantastic opportunity to learn from other Member States. The scale of the challenge is such that cooperation and joint action at EU level is more than ever required," explained Pat Barry, CEO of the IGBC in an interview with Renovate Europe.

TRIGGERING JOBS AND GROWTH THROUGH ENERGY RENOVATION
Hosted by MEP Carolina Punset (ALDE, Spain) and organised by Renovate Europe, this breakfast debate focused on teh economic benefits of achieving Nearly Zero Energy Building (NZEB) standards by 2050 for the building stock in the EU. Speakers included Grzegorz Radziejewski from Commissioner Katainen's Cabinet and Riccardo Viaggi from European Builders Confederation.

LETTER TO PRESIDENT JUNCKER
Renovate Europe stood alongside a group of 42 CEOs from some of Europe's major construction and building companies calling for an EU vision for the building sector - NZEB level building stock by 2050 - in a letter addressed to President Juncker and Vice-President Timmermans.

The second 'Buildings Day' took place on 10th November 2016 at COP22 in Marrakesh. Renovate Europe is an endorsing partner of the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction.

About the Campaign
Renovate Europe is a political communications campaign with the ambition to reduce the energy demand of the EU building stock by 80% by 2050 as compared to 2005 levels. This will bring the energy performance of the entire building stock in the EU to an NZEB performance level.
