Charter One Realty - By The Numbers

Charter One Realty continues to list and sell homes following Governor McMaster's declaration that Real Estate is essential. Undoubtedly, the pandemic has caused us to modify how we do business. Despite the challenges, we have managed to list 146 new properties, write 162 contracts, and close 294 transactions since the stay at home order was announced on March 13th. 

Though we may be doing business a little differently these days, our focus remains the same - our clients. We are open for business, taking new listings, and safely showing property. We are all in this together, and we are here to help. Let us know if we can answer any questions along the way.  

Real Estate Market Update

The graph below looks at the number of properties going under contract on a weekly basis. As noted on the graph, 2019 was the best year that our market has seen in the last 20 years. By contrast, the financial crisis of 2008 was the worst year our real estate market has experienced in the last 20 years. Because of the uniqueness of the impact COVID-19 is having on the market, we have included both the best and worst years of the last 20 years on this graph so that you can appreciate what is happening.

As you can see, 2020 began the year looking as if it was going to be a banner year for real estate. Then, when states started restricting movement, sales temporarily dipped into 2008-type numbers. Now, as states once again re-open, we are starting to see a fairly rapid recovery.  So, the market is showing some resilience at the moment. Obviously, the story of COVID-19 and its impact on our real estate market is still being written. At the moment, it appears that the severity of its impact on our market may not be what many once imagined. However, that could change if the unemployment numbers continue to drag on the economy. So, there is much of the story that remains to be written.

Traffic Signals?

2019 was a banner year at Charter One Realty. Among other accomplishments, the company's website hit new benchmarks for the number of visitors and user sessions. Why is that significant now? An analysis of the past three weeks has revealed that direct website traffic to CharterOneRealty.com has increased by almost 15% compared to the same record-setting period last year. Perhaps this increase can be attributed to the shelter in place order, but we know from other indicators that there is pent-up demand in real estate. This traffic signal should indicate a 'green light' to sellers wanting to list their property.
