New Alameda County Health Order Effective
Friday, August 28


The Alameda County Health Officer has issued a new Health Order 20-14c effective Friday, August 28, that allows for limited outdoor services and activities to begin.


The Order allows for the reopening of outdoor swimming pools as well as outdoor services for hair salons, nail salons, barbershops, waxing, skin care and non-medical massages. Services that may require a client to remove their face covering, as well as eyebrow threading and waxing and eyelash treatments are not permitted at this time. Tattoo, piercing, and electrolysis businesses are not allowed to operate indoors or outdoors.

Wineries with outdoor tasting facilities may provide tastings by appointment, without the requirement to provide a meal.

Updated Business Support Fund Accepting Applications

The Pleasanton City Council recently approved an update to the City’s Business Support Fund program which provides zero-interest, short term loans to independently or locally-owned Pleasanton businesses that have been adversely affected due to COVID-19. Businesses are eligible for loan amounts as follows:

  • $10,000 loan amount ($10,800 in downtown) for micro-enterprise businesses employing 2-10 employees
  • $20,000 loan amount ($21,600 in downtown) for businesses employing 11-25 employees

Loan are allowed a maximum amortization of 36 months with repayment commencing on the first day of the month after the COVID-19 local emergency declaration is lifted. Eligible businesses must have a physical location in Pleasanton, be in good standing with the City and have paid a City of Pleasanton 2020 business license tax by March 1, 2020.

Businesses that have previously been approved may request to borrow the higher amounts based on employee count provided in the initial application. Please contact the Economic Development Department at to request the increased loan amount. New applicants can apply HERE.
