Two professors participate in new research collaborations funded by the Simons Foundation

With multi-million dollar funding from the Simons FoundationMatthew Headrick (Physics) and Bong H. Lian (Mathematics) are co-PIs in two separate international collaborations of theoretical physicists and mathematicians to find answers to some of the biggest and most fundamental questions in their disciplines.

In a paper that appeared in the Journal of Chemical Education, Chemistry's Klaus Schmidt-Rohr explores the eternal question of why fire is hot.


REU students arrive for summer research

Along with 100+ Brandeis science undergrads doing summer research, 19 students are participating in 2 REU programs. This is a 10-week paid research experience in several of the Molecular & Cell Visualization and Materials Research Science and Engineering Center labs in the Division of Science.

How they are spending their summer

A group of Brandeis students are spending their summer building mobile apps in the Voice, Web & Mobile Applications program that is being offered through the Justice Brandeis Semester. 

Scientific innovation for positive impact: SPROUT awards announced

Eight teams share $100,000 to advance research at Brandeis. SPROUT awards support entrepreneurial activity for Brandeis graduate and undergraduate students, postdocs, faculty and staff. 

Grants & Awards in the Division of Science (1/1/16 - 6/30/16)

During the first 6 months of 2016, faculty researchers in the Division of Science received almost $18 million in grants and awards for new or competitively renewed projects.  Additionally, 4 Brandeis undergraduate received the 2016 National Science Foundation's Graduate Fellowships Awards.
