This weekend, if you look to our balcony, you may notice several First Communion banners. At a special Mass on May 16, 11 of our youngest parishioners will receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist for the first time. Please keep these youth in your prayers these next few weeks.
St. Thomas Aquinas is looking to return as a host for our summer camp, Totus Tuus, June 20-25. However, before we open registration for participants, we are in need of a coordinator and several additional volunteers so we can ensure a great week for all.
Coordinators and volunteers will be needed for:
1-6 Grades Mon-Fri, Jun 21-25
7-12 Grades Sun-Thurs, Jun 20-24
Please contact Joe Weyers at 515-292-3810 if you are able and willing to assist to discuss this ministry more.
THANKS to the 30+ parishioners, STUDENTS & RESIDENTS who came last Saturday to help clean the church. We appreciate you sharing your time and your effort, but especially your care for STA!
All Anchor Youth Ministry Families are invited to an End of the Year Mass & Social on Wednesday, May 5 at 6:30pm at St. Cecilia or join virtual. Ss Francis & Clare Room
when we open the Ss Francis and Clare room (north end of lower lounge) for use again - those meeting in the building will notice a new configuration in the room. Through the generosity of Bill & Karen Bergan we now have a large conference table and chairs in the Ss Francis & Clare room.
The Buildings & Grounds committee is looking at the wall above the south exit into the Prayer Garden. The vertical members were originally installed to match the vertical frames of the old clerestory windows; they do not match those of the new clerestory windows; some of the wooden vertical brown boards are becoming unattached, all need painting, and the white needs paint as well; all of the banners we have displayed from this area are in bad shape and falling apart; not to mention that it is quite the task to change these banners 4-5 times a year. The committee is trying to determine the best repairs going forward. Some have mentioned that this is an ideal space for art work overlooking the garden - there is no plan nor funds for new art at this time. The committee will continue to consider options with a goal of doing something this summer.
