Plant Trees in Sayes Court Park
from the National Trust
2020 marks 125 years since the National Trust was founded. In London, we will be celebrating this anniversary by planting 125 trees in Lewisham and designing a new garden for Sayes Court Park, a site with significant historic links to the founding of the National Trust.
The tree planting is part of a larger initiative by Lewisham Council and park user group DeptfordFolk to plant 400 trees in 2020 to mark the 400 years since the birth of John Evelyn, the 17th century diarist who lived in the Sayes Court Estate and created its famous gardens.
On the 29th February 2020 we will be launching this partnership with a tree planting event in Sayes Court Park. Four new trees will be planted in the park by representatives from the local community, the Council and the National Trust. Once the trees have been planted we will head to the nearby Dog and Bell pub for drinks and food. I hope you will be able to join!
We will meet in the Sayes Court Park at 11.30am. Please click this link to see the location.
