Sunday August 9th
Scout Hall Childers Street
(On Quietway 1)
Last month's session was very busy. Please get there early. Let our team know if you would like to get involved.
DeptfordFolk & Lewisham Cyclists held two additional Cycle Repair Sessions to celebrate our two DPLN filtered streets (so far) and support an increase in demand from residents. Lot's of children's bikes seen at our School's Out Session on Scawen Road and a big queue at our Gears & Beers Session on Prince Street next to the Dog & Bell pub.
Deptford Park Liveable Neighbourhood
We're pleased to see our #DPLN Scawen Road Modal Filter outside Sir Francis Drake School featured as a best practice example to promote safer school streets in other boroughs lke Ealing and Greenwich. It's also been included in the new "Covid Safe Spaces" guide developed by Street Space CIC available here: covid19saferspaces.org
The TfL/Mayor of London "Liveable Neighbourhood" funding is currently paused. We will share any news we have about DPLN as we get it. The council have fully consulted on DPLN and it has been supported by residents through the council's statutory consultation process.
This area has the lowest car ownership, highest child poverty, worst air quality and highest population density. During lockdown Deptford saw a staggering 71% drop in Nitrogen Dioxide.
We're not creating the pollution it is brought to us from elsewhere. Traffic and parking has increased significantly on our streets since lockdown. We have asked Lewisham Council to make our streets safer and healthier to support distancing, walking, school streets, safe access to public transport and cycling.
Bike Stand Folkestone Gardens
A few years ago DeptfordFolk had a public bike stand with tools and pump installed next to the cafe in Folkestone Gardens.
The increase in cycling locally has made this a very popular facility. If you don't have space at home to repair your bike, stop by here for a tune-up.
