View this email in your browser
Two big games yesterday Our own Deptford Dragons played Hither Green Hawks. And, of course, the spectacular final of the ICC World Cup, played at Lords. What a great week to launch the new home of the Deptford Dragons, in Deptford Park at 3pm on Tuesday July 16th.

All credit to the young people on the Deptford Dragons team who have worked hard to improve their cricket skills this year and campaign for a home ground of their own. Well done too to England on an incredible victory. Winners all round!

Everyone is invited to the official opening of the new cricket facility in Deptford Park on Tuesday 16th July at 3pm.

AB de Villiers, a genuine cricket legend, like Deptford's own Colin Blythe, will open the pitch with children from local schools including members of the Deptford Dragons cricket team.

Professional cricketers from Kent and Surrey, and the Platform Cricket project, will also be joining in with the event.

This project is part of an ECB campaign to put cricket back in London's parks and  help tackle sport inequality. It's led by the London Cricket Trust. Read more HERE.

AB de Villiers played for South Africa (2004-2018) in all formats as a batsmen. He scored over 8,500 runs in test cricket and over 9,500 in one day cricket. He has scored 22 test match centuries.

Often referred to as 'Mr. 360' due to his ability to score runs all around a wicket, he was also an athletic and acrobatic fielder.
Give it a go.

If your kids want to try out cricket we have teamed up with Platform Cricket to put on two basic FREE coaching/multi-sports sessions on 20th July. Sessions are at 10am for Under 8's (Y3) and at 11am for Under 12's (Y4).

As part of the project with the London Cricket Trust we have  some cricket equipment including these sprung wickets.

We're looking at ways of making the equipment accessible to all.  That might be a store accessible through a combination or 'smart' lock.  Meanwhile, if you want to borrow please get in touch.
It's the National Park City Festival from 20th to 28th July and we are putting on activities in Deptford Parks including art workshops, cycle rides, cricket coaching and more. Find out more on the EVENTS page on our website.
