TIMBERYARD
Drop-In Exhibition
We dropped-in to the Lendlease Timberyard exhibition on Saturday 7th December to look at the proposed changes to the development. In 2016 planning permission was granted for home, non-residential floorspace with buildings ranging from 6 - 28 storeys.

However, the developer, Lendlease, are looking to submit new plans which will substantially increase the density of the plot. This would mean higher towers and more homes in the section opposite Deptford Park School.

See comparative pictures below.
This new proposal would replace the building in blue on the map below.

Remember, a separate developer has proposed 27 storey "Scott House" tower on the corner of Oxstalls Road and Grove Street.

This is in the shaded area on the top right hand corner of the plot in the image below.
There are two more drop-in evenings so if you get a chance make sure you drop-in and have a look at the proposals:

Monday 9th December 5.30pm - 8pm
Tuesday 10th December 5.30pm - 8pm

Address: The Timberyard Deptford, Oxtalls Road, London SE8 5QS

IMPACT

The Timberyard development and many other developments are coming to the Evelyn Ward. This will bring 10,000 new homes to the area. How will our public spaces, parks, greenspaces, doctor's surgeries etc. cope? How will people get around and to work.

This area needs a Masterplan and a Movement Plan.
In Southwark (just north of the Evelyn Ward), where 3,500 homes will be built in Canada Water, Southwark Council are developing a comprehensive "Movement Plan" to ensure residents can access transport and have safer healthier streets. We covered the huge impact this will have in a recent email. We are pleased Lewisham Council have included our suggestions in their response to Transport for London.

In Catford, Lewisham Council have funded Team Catford to conduct community conversations, events and activities and "placemaking" to develop a masterplan for a much much smaller scale of development. A fantastic opportunity for Catford which the council have put forward for an award. We think Lewisham Council should do the same for this area.

This week the Centre for London published the Fairer Transport report which recommends to "place greater emphasis on the travel needs of disadvantaged Londoners, while providing better transport infrastructure for areas of low connectivity".

Child poverty in the Evelyn ward is at 49% - by far the most deprived part of Lewisham. 10,000 homes without a plan means the impact on residents and the environment is not managed. Anyone who uses the buses, Surrey Quays or Canada Water stations during rush hour knows how difficult it is to get anywhere.

DeptfordFolk will continue to ask Lewisham Council for an Evelyn Movement Plan and an Evelyn Masterplan.

Deptford Parks Liveable Neighbourhood

DPLN Formal Consultation
Thanks for all those that came to our drop-in meeting on Sunday 8th Dec to get your bikes fixed, check out the Deptford Park Liveable Neighbourhood proposals, give some feedback and help us with our #Playgrounds4Deptford campaign. We ran out of mince pies.

Also massive thanks to Cllr Sophie McGeevor, Lewisham cabinet member for environment and transport, for coming down to see the positive things our workshops achieve and to talk through the proposals with residents.

The DPLN consultation is now open on the Lewisham Council planning portal HERE where you can review the designs.

The consultation closes on January 3rd 2020.
And finally....
It's GENERAL ELECTION WEEK!

The Blackhorse pub on Evelyn Street is hosting an Election Pub Quiz Special hosted by quizmaster Jake. Get involved. £1 per person. Polls suggest there will be a strong showing of puns, gags and taxing posers at this important election quiz.
