Let’s Focus in: John Stonestreet

John serves as president of the Colson Center for Christian Worldview. He is a popular speaker on such topics as faith and culture, theology, worldview, education and apologetics. He is the daily voice of BreakPoint, the nationally syndicated radio feature founded by the late Chuck Colson. Before coming to the Colson Center in 2010, John served in various leadership capacities with Summit Ministries and was on the biblical studies faculty at Bryan College. John has co-authored four books including A Practical Guide to Culture, Restoring All Things, Same-Sex Marriage, and Making Sense of Your World: A Biblical Worldview. He and his wife, Sarah, have four children and live in Colorado Springs, CO.

John shared at the Summit conference in 2019 that what used to be unthinkable is now not even questioned! God has determined for us to live in this time and in this place. What can you do to lead your grandchildren to God’s Word. It must inform our conversation as we share with them. We cannot wait to hear John again at this year’s Summit!
Summit Registration Opens March 1st for individuals.

Quotes of the Month:

“Every child has a special way of perceiving love. There are five ways children (indeed, all people) speak and understand emotional love. They are physical touch, words of affirmation, quality time, gifts, and acts of service.”
“Nothing works well if a child’s love needs are not met. Only the child who feels genuinely loved and cared for can do her best. You may truly love your child, but unless she feels it—unless you speak the love language that communicates to her your love—she will not feel loved.

GRAND love for your grandkids

With February right around the corner, let’s explore some ways to show love to our grandchildren. While we know that not all of us are able to impact our grandchildren in the way we had hoped, we feel certain that you love your grandchildren. May you be able to use some of these ideas. As you love, consider:

G = gather those family stories, those God moments, those “When I was a child…” and share them.

R = be the real you! God will use your personality to impact your grands. Be authentic and vulnerable. Be an easy person to be around.

A = be available. Get involved in their lives, their interests. Be ready to listen. Be there for them. Show grace and mercy, reflecting the love of Jesus, when they are processing hard things.

N = be near in distance if possible. Be near on an emotional level. Build that relationship bond strong, making a connection that will last the test of time.

D = be demonstrative. Express your love in tangible ways. Support their parents as an ally along with supporting them. Be a joy to be around!

Ways to show GRAND love:
  • Pray for them specifically
  • Spend one-on-one time
  • Connect using their chosen technology
  • Use appropriate touch like hugs and kisses
  • Say “I love you” “I am so glad I get to be your grandpa”
  • Write letters or send cards
  • Go to their activities and be involved in their interests
  • Communicate pride, praise, and interest in them
  • Call them by name and be genuinely excited to see them
  • Share your hobbies and interests with them, maybe even teach them

Prayer and Praise Focus

Lord, may our grandchildren come to love You with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength. As they learn to love You with everything they have, may they then share Your great unfailing love with others. May they know that we love them and are here for them no matter what. We love because the Lord loved us first. May our love for the Lord show in all we say and do. Amen.
Our prayer team would love to join you in praying for the needs of your grandchildren.  Email us at
