David Green is the author of three books. More Than a HobbyGiving it All Away… And Getting It All Back Again; The Way of Living Generously and A Generous Life; 10 Steps to Living a Life Money Can’t Buy.

David & his wife Barbara are the proud parents of two sons and one daughter. They have ten grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. They are actively involved at their church as well as many other Christian ministries and charities.

David will be speaking on the topic of Leaving Grandchildren a Generational Legacy – not just a material legacy but a legacy of generosity and faithfulness to God. Join us at Summit 2020 to hear insights from David Green.

David Green fun fact: He worked as a stock boy at a general store in high school, where he swept floors and unloaded boxes for 60 cents an hour.

Grandparents and Teens – Oil and Vinegar?

Most people assume that older people and teenagers do not want to spend time together. Yet both desire and crave the same things – to feel needed, listened to, and acknowledged. Taking the time and making the effort to build a relationship is well worth it. When we share our stories, we are sharing our heart and spirit with our grand teens. It can become a powerful and rewarding experience for both!

Come up with some great bonding opportunities where you can experience things together. Keep in mind what the grand teen is interested in. Explore the world of your teen getting to know them while also sharing your world when you were that age. You may find out that while things are very different, they are also very much the same struggles, doubts, and wonders. Fascinating conversations and opportunities to share God’s Word can abound.

Consider doing some volunteering together. Opportunities abound during this time of year. If you can do it without the parents -just you and the grand teen – that is even better. There is a different dynamic present when the parents are there. Maybe learn to do something new to both of you such as ax throwing – new trend in our area. Have fun and get to know your teen better, you will not regret it!

Check out our “Featured Product of the Month.” It would be a great Christmas gift for the older tweens and younger teens on your gift list.

Quote of the month:

“Run your business in harmony with God's laws. This will keep you on an ethical footing. Seek to please God in everything you do.”

Prayer and Praise Focus

Lord we praise and thank you for your Spirit’s work in the minds and lives of our teenage grandchildren in answer to our prayers.  During the coming holidays we plead for them to:
  • Grow spiritually ...to be rooted and built up in their faith, growing in truth.  Colossians 2:7
  • Be thankful....always giving thanks in every situation and circumstance.  1 Thessalonians 5:18
  • Experience success ....their godly desires and plans will be met and succeed.
Lord, help them to study diligently your Word and in preparation for their tests and exams.  Amen!
