There's still room in our Sunday series The Wild Within. An amazing group has assembled to learn and reflect together Sundays in March, 10:00-11:15 PST. Learn more and sign up here.
And if you're on a social justice journey, come learn with me! I'll be facilitating a virtual book club on Courtney Martin's book Learning in Public Wednesday, March 23, 7pm PST and would love to have you join me. You can sign up here.

What's inspiring me this week

I was bowled over listening to Jane Goodall and Douglas Abram's Book of Hope. You can read my takeaways here. And if you'd like to pay tribute to the amazing Paul Farmer, this documentary will do the trick. I also read Tarana Burke's Unbound this week. Thank you to these incredible people who lived or are living out their callings, and then for telling us about it!

Hard work with friends
When Dr. Farmer was asked how he could keep it up without burnout, he answered, "Hard work with friends." I love that so much. Here's a few stories from my client work that underline that sensibiliy:

  • A coachee who had the courage to leave a job where where she was unappreciated and uninspired, and is now thriving in a role that's perfect for her
  • A group of leaders and line staff coming together to solve a longstanding problem and being willing to tell new stories
  • A coachee who's decided to meditate every day as an antidote to frustration and anxiety
  • An amazingly diverse group within an organization--race, language, ethnicity, abilities, gender--presenting their recommendations for diversity, equity, and inclusion to their leaders
I'm not in denial of the facts, but I'm hopeful. The experts can't save us--this is all work of the heart, and I'm heartened every day.

A plug for getting away

I took a solo retreat recently, and this "Wall of Heroes" is part of what emerged. It's amazing what happens when we get quiet. You can read my tips for taking a solo retreat here.
