OCTOBER NEWS
As the fall season starts, we wanted to zoom in on a common skin concern, hyperpigmentation. This excess pigmentation in the skin can look different on each skin type and has a variety of causes. Commonly described as spots, patches, sun damage, discoloration or melasma, hyperpigmentation can be caused by sun exposure, inflammation, skin trauma and even hormones. Here are some treatment & product tips from our Skin Experts at SKIN FIVE.
TIP #1: WEAR SUNSCREEN DAILY
We know this #1 prevention tip from our founders, Dr. Ava Shamban with the Skin Sisters Beverly Hills, Christine Nell, FNP & Karri Ann Khalil, FNP. Here is why: People with more melanin in their skin are more prone to hyperpigmentation, especially with daily sun exposure. We recommend a sunscreen wardrobe that suits your lifestyle. Pick a daily SPF for your face that fits your skin condition: dry, normal, oily or combination? Want a chemical-free option? Prefer a matte or dewy finish? Then select the best sunscreen for your body: Are you active outside? Need a water-resistant formula? Prefer packaging in a stick, tube or compact? We have it ALL. Check out our e-shop for products to correct & protect from hyperpigmentation.

TIP #2: TREAT THE SPOTS
Often, after an acne breakout, we can see dark spots and discoloration that appear on the skin where the acne has healed. If left untreated, the spots can become darker over time. Best to address when spots start. We suggest our #3 Spotless by Clear & Brilliant to zap excess pigmentation while stimulating collagen as part of a correct & prevent program. This treatment has no downtime and best results are seen after a series of treatments. Areas to treat include face, neck, décolleté or chest, hands, arms, shoulders, back, abdomen & legs. As there are typically less intense sunny days in the fall/winter season, we suggest starting now. Ready to start your series?

TIP #3: ADDRESS THE EXCESS
Sometimes, the pigmentation can be excessive and difficult to treat. While sunscreen daily is a must, there are face treatments to treat the excess pigmentation as well as address the overproduction of melanin. As part of our new add-on menu options, we offer The Revealer, with two different peels, the Perfect Derma Peel or Cosmelan. Both chemical peels assist in an overall exfoliation of the skin as well as treating the excess pigmentation at a deeper level. We suggest starting with a SKIN FIVE Face Assessment to discuss your options and a treatment plan that involves an at-home skincare program. Plan your skin assessment to learn more about the best treatments & products for your skin.
