On to the good stuff... My first novel, Kissing Max Holden, will debut on August 1, 2017 -- exactly one year from today! I'm celebrating with a giveaway over on my website. One winner will be chosen at random to receive 4 of my favorite young adult novels, all signed by their authors. The novels up for grabs are The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski, Catching Jordan by Miranda Kenneally, Amy & Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson, and The Wrath & the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh. Entering is easy, and those subscribed to this newsletter (YOU!) receive five extra entries. So, what are you waiting for? Head over to the giveaway and try your luck.

Read This:
Exit, Pursued by a Bear by E.K. Johnston was my favorite book of July. I found it insightful, nuanced, and refreshingly hopeful. I loved the way cheerleading was portrayed, and I loved protagonist Hermione's strength in the wake of a terrible assault. Big recommend for fans of contemporary YA.

Binge This:
Parenthood. I rave about this show on my blog often, but I can't say it enough: It's aMaZiNg. The writing, the acting, the emotional resonance, the humor, the swoon -- it's everything I look for in a show. I've got one season left to watch, and I'm already sad about saying goodbye to my beloved Bravermans.

Bake This:
If you love scones as much as I do but have a hard time baking batches that are soft and light, please try this Vanilla Scone recipe from Stuck on Sweet. They're so easy, and so delicious. You'll want to serve them hot, with butter and raspberry jam. I made a batch for my family one lazy Saturday morning and they were a huge hit.

Watch This:
My girl and I saw Ghostbusters a few of weeks ago, and we had so much fun giggling at the silliness and startling at the 3D scares while inhaling handfuls of popcorn. Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon are ridiculously funny, and Chris Hemsworth isn't awful to look at. Two enthusiastic thumbs up.

Buy This:
I'm obsessed with all things coconut -- even my hair products are scented like it! Though sometimes hard to find (I've only had luck at Target) Dunkin' Donuts Coconut Coffee, as well as Trader Joe's Dark Chocolate Coconut Almonds are the yummiest. They're best enjoyed on a sunny summer afternoon. Treat yo' self!
