kids in leaves

Fall is truly here in the California Bay Area, though during the day it does not appear to be so. Our signs of fall though are that the days are so much shorter and growing shorter still, the leaves are falling, as evidenced upon the ground yet our days are still warm like slowly, slowly cooling summer. The past three years have brought unique weather. Each year has been very different than the year prior over in this neck of the woods.

Our ability to be flexible, creative and deeply observant as to what the Natural world is doing with all of this weather change is being called upon.

We ask, “How are the plants responding?” “Are they growing the way they usually do?” “Are the berries from certain trees being altered by the weather???” “Why are the Yellow Jackets so abundant right now?”

And on goes the curiosity that arises from such changes.

How about in your area? Is the weather the same as it always has been in years past? How are you plants, tree, birds, bees and the like faring?

This is a great time of year to notice the many changes that are arising.

I suggest here some fun for you and your child/children to play with:

  • Every day find a time, preferably the same time each day, and, even if just for a few minutes, notice what you notice. What do the leaves, trees, plants, bugs, sun, moon, etc. look like? From there, each day go out and notice if anything has or is changing.
  • Notice, is the Sun in the same place on the horizon? The Moon? Are the leaves on thee trees near you? How are the plants growing on the ground doing? What birds are flying about??
  • You might even wish to keep a journal about your discoveries. When you come in you can draw what you notice in a journal, take pictures and put them in there or, what do YOU think would be fun??

This is such a magickal time of year to play with the Darkness and the Light and see how THEY play with each other.

May you have fun, ease and joy during this season.
