Greater Sydney Landcare Webinar Series

Hello everyone,

As the lockdown continues, we're sending our best wishes to you all and hope you're managing as well as you can.

To stay connected and share some interesting stories during this difficult time, we've started an online webinar series. This month we have some fantastic presenters who'll be talking about the health benefits of tree canopies, creating koala corridors, birding in a 5km radius and the urban heat problems in Western Sydney.

Scroll down for more information and how to register. We hope to catch you online soon!

Big thanks and stay safe!

Tree Canopies - the superfood for your health
Associate Professor Xiaoqi Feng and Professor Thomas Astell-Burt

Join Xiao and Thomas, researchers from the University of Wollongong, to hear about their fascinating research into how green spaces and particularly tree canopy cover contribute significantly to our mental health and wellbeing. Their research shows that adults with 30% or more of their neighbourhood covered in tree canopy had 31% lower odds of developing psychological distress. Does that make you want to plant some trees?

Mark Fuller is an expert twitcher and guide, with over 100,000 of his popular photo guides printed to date. While the lockdown has reduced the ability to go out and socialise, it is also helping Sydneysiders to understand the benefits of connecting with their local environment.
