GREENING WESTMEAD HOSPITAL - Sat May 1

May 1 @ 8:30 am - 2:30 pm

We’re creating an urban woodland on the Hospital grounds for habitat and to provide a restorative environment. Now’s your chance to get involved with creating this healing space in your neighbourhood.

About this event:
The plantings, in the Westmead Hospital grounds, are designed with a Parramatta artist from the social enterprise Social Canvas AU and will be revegetated with local woodland species using the Miyawaki planting method. The site’s proximity to Toongabbie Creek will help extend important habitat for small birds, microbats, and other native animals.

River restoration and exploration - Sun May 2

May 2 @ 8:30 am - 2:30 pm

Come join us and be part of the post-flood river recovery in the Hawkesbury…
Greater Sydney Landcare Network in partnership with Hawkesbury Bushcare are hosting a day of talks and and bush regeneration activities to restore Phils Forest.

About this event
The recent floods have washed away much of the understory weeds that are impacting the site such as, trad (Tradescantia fluminensis). This has opened up a perfect opportunity to plant flood-resistant native ground covers that will prevent environmental weeds from re-establishing.

This event intends to give young people aged 18 to 30-something year olds the opportunity to take action to restore bushland in North-west Sydney and connect with like-minded people who are passionate about habitat and biodiversity.

RSVPs are essential so to avoid disappointment register ASAP HERE: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/…/gyhd-river-restoration…

For more information contact Elisha at 4724 2147 or elisha.duxbury@greatersydneylandcare.org.

Koala Day of Action - Friday May 28th

28th May @ All day

Save the date for visiting your local MP office regarding the many changes to legislation that is lessening further and further the ability for us to protect our iconic Koala.

The SEPP has backflipped.
There is still logging going on in Koala habitat.
And, development is still happening in Sydney in known koala habitat! We are clearing our koala's habitat to build houses. There is plenty other space for this to happen. Why in Sydney's prime biodiversity hotspot, where Koala's are known to live?

Stay tuned for more information about this day. Activities will be taking place across Sydney.
