Disabled Grandmother Raises Four Boys
With four growing boys to feed Ms. Diane Gatlin could have faced real hardship when she became disabled. “Without the food program we would have been lacking. It is an excellent program,” she tells everyone. “No child at Walton Reserve should go hungry with the program we have. No excuse!” Her favorite part of the bi-weekly meetings? “The inspiration time when Ms. Alison searches her daily devotional to meet our needs.”

Creating Joyous Community!

The members at the Walton Legacy program enjoyed an especially festive annual party this year. The Steering Committee cooked much of the food themselves so that there would be an abundance. Dressed in red shirts they served about 70 members and their guests. “Creating communities…” is the FSA mission, and this Food Security Group knows how to do it right!

Robert Wood Johnson Ongoing Funding Opportunity

RWJ has an open grant opportunity under the category “Evidence for Action: Investigator-Initiated Research to Build a Culture of Health”. A sample topic of interest is “How shifting from charitable food distribution to a community-based model impacts food security.”
