Learn how brain tumor donations power global research

On Thursday, February 25, from 5:00-6:00 pm EST, we’re hosting another CBTN Community Info Session, and exploring the many ways that tumor tissue donations power the scientific progress happening across the Children's Brain Tumor Network.

Battling a brain tumor takes a lot of strength...

...more so than any child should be expected to show. But each year, courageous patients and their families across our Network endure the treatment journey hand-in-hand with treatment providers and research teams. Often, patients and families make the choice to donate medical data and tumor specimens to CBTN, in hopes that these precious resources can be used to bring about better outcomes for all children battling this terrible disease.

But what happens to tumor tissue once it's been collected? What kind of information can be gathered from that tissue? And how is it possible for a single patient's tissue donation to impact the entire research landscape in childhood brain cancer?

Take an insider's look at the lab at our Operations Center at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Follow a tumor's journey from resection, to processing, to analysis, and onto clinical impact. And see the many ways tissue can be utilized to create entirely new bio resources and models that can play a role in research projects all over the world.
Stay until the end of our presentation for a community Q&A with two of our CBTN research leads, Dr. Payal Jain and Dr. Jo Lynne Rokita. Drs. Jain and Rokita lead teams of laboratory and data scientists to advance pre-clinical research and to uncover new information that will lead to better treatment strategies, better therapeutics, and better outcomes for all children.
