Hey Hope!
After my message on Sunday, I had several conversations with folks who resonated with Psalm 127 and our tendency toil or control outcomes in our work and family lives. I continue to chew on the Eugene Peterson quote I reference which says “the psalmist sees toiling or compulsive activity as a sign of weak faith and assertive pride, as if God could not be trusted to accomplish his will, as if we could rearrange the universe by our own effort.” This quote convicts me but I also find it deeply encouraging that Peterson uses humor to describe our attempts ro rearrange the universe. I find much more joy when I "allow" God to do his job and I stay in my lane of faithfulness and obedience.

The other bit of encouragement I want to say again is that many of you have faithfully loved, served, prayed for and supported someone with  little recognition. YOUR LABOR  IS NOT IN VAIN. Some of you are struggling to see the fruit of your work and faithfulness. YOUR LABOR IS NOT IN VAIN. God sees your faithfulness even when others don't. God sees the  big picture even when we don't. I hope you let these words from the Apostle Paul sink deep in your bones, Therefore, my beloved brothers and sisters, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. -1 Corinthians 15:58

With Hope!

This Sunday Nate talked with us about Psalm 127, facing the root of toiling and being honest about what happens when we don't allow God to "build the house". We are simply not designed or intended to do/be everything.  When we see to honor God with our whole lives, we know our labor is not in vain. Take heart!
Creation is our theme all summer long! We are working on memorizing our new Bible verse, Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." We are also learning a song, "My God is so Big," linked here: Sing Hosanna - My God Is So Big | Bible Songs for Kids - YouTube

We are looking for an energetic Jesus follower to join our team as the Hope Kids Elementary Coordinator. We hired Maggie Kroeker in January as our Hope Kids Nursery Coordinator who is specifically helping facilitate the nursery and kids ages 5 and below. The new position, would focus on the next age group ages 5-10 or Elementary age kids. As we encourage and love that our church is intergenerational, we are going to begin offering a program for our young worshippers during the Sunday sermon. More details on that to come.... stay tuned!
If you are interested in this position or know of someone who might be interested please email Blake Mueses.
