Thoughts from Ali Jo.....
I had a conversation after church on Sunday with a dear friend that is still sitting in my soul. We talked about how “good” it can feel to be in control of everything. It sure feels nice when things go according to the plan, and it lets me feel really good about me. Especially on Sunday mornings when there are lots of things happening that I am responsible for. (I forgot to grab the snack from my car across the field for the elementary kids during our lesson. Spoiler alert- they still had a great time!) ......

We have a few new opportunities to serve with VH and I wanted to pass them to yall to consider and to share with your networks. Let me know if you have interest in filling any of these gaps:

Transportation Needs:
  1. Garden/Driver needed: Thursday Mornings from 8:30-11:30 am Pick up neighborhood volunteers and drive them to Rise Up community farm. Together you can help harvest the fall crops at the farm from 9-11 and then you would bring them back to The Roastery after wrap up. This empowers south side residents to be able to earn their own produce through sweat equity and is a super fun morning!
  2. Church Van needed: Thursday Mornings from 8:30-11:30 am an alternative to #1 would be a local church allowing a Vigilant Hope staff member to drive their church van each Thursday morning to transport folks.
  3. Shower trailer driver/host: Every other Tuesday evening 4:30-7:30 We need a volunteer to drive VH van, pulling the shower trailer from Lake Forest to First Baptist Church, host the trailer for their guests and then return it to Lake Forest.
Tithing is an act of generosity and a simple response to God's generosity to us.  Options  for giving: tithe online, send your giving to our post office box, or give checks or cash in the offering plate. Our gifts support the mission of this church in our community and beyond and we are grateful for your generosity.
