The Porous Christian
It's early Monday morning, a time when I marinate on the message I gave the day before. I preached on Psalm 126 which gives a gritty description of what it means to be a joyful follower of Christ. Joy is not flimsy. It is not simply feeling or emotion. It is theological, deep and rooted in God's promises and previous acts of kindness and mercy. Jesus Joy is completely dependent on God, nothing else.

Summer in the Psalms: We look forward to immersing ourselves in one of the most beautifully written books in the bible. If you aimed to read 2 chapters of Psalms a day, you would finish by the end of summer. I hope you'll join me!
This week's message from Nate explored Psalm 126, recognizing the joy of knowing God.  Our joy comes from knowing what God has done, what He is doing, and what we know He will do with our future. Take heart as you listen to this message, what encouragement!
Creation is our theme all summer long! We are working on memorizing our new Bible verse, Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." We are also learning a song, "My God is so Big," linked here: Sing Hosanna - My God Is So Big | Bible Songs for Kids - YouTube

NOAH Update: Summertime and the livin' is busy! We have decided to postpone NOAH until September due to busy schedules. Keep a look out for a future date and a sign up in the next few weeks. Your patience is appreciated as we navigate how to best serve the young families of our church. And your prayers are welcome too for this endeavor!
I volunteer in the kitchen at Good Shepherd Ministries helping make and serve breakfast once a week. The Kitchen Manager, told me the kitchen needs a good scrub down and the pantry and freezers need to organized. I would like to assemble 5 or 6 volunteers from Hope to go there on a Saturday morning for a few hours and help her out. If you can help, please let me know and I’ll arrange a date and time.
