Monterey County Office of Education Foster Youth Services Coordinating Program is requesting just a few minutes of your time. They would like to assess their program, and feedback from you as a CASA is vital!
Please follow the link below for a brief survey. They want to ensure our foster students are receiving the supports they need to be successful in school. This survey will help both locally and at the state level in determining program needs.
MCOE thanks you very much for your time, and for being an important partner in our universal goal to improve the lives of students in foster care.
The Foster Youth Services Coordinating Program (FYSCP)
appreciates your input and all you do as a CASA!
Just some clarification on terminology used in the survey:
A Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) is a district’s planning document which shows goals and expected outcomes, as well as services provided in attempt to attain those goals. Districts who have foster students should list goals for them as well as special education students, English Learners and low income students.
Our county = Monterey County, MCOE and/or partner agencies
An LEA is a Local Education Agency (essentially, this means school districts and county programs)
Based on the realities of aging out of foster care, Friday’s Child follows a young drifter who turns to petty crime to survive. As one of 20,000 foster youth who are no longer eligible for care each year, often after the age of 18, Richie’s struggles lead him to discover an impossible love in an unlikely friend. This story captures the relentless quest of the human spirit and grapples with the societal impact of the foster care system to inspire awareness, outreach, and action.
Invite your friends, co-workers, and family members. Each theater event needs to sell a minimum amount of tickets to take place.

Maintaining Your Healing
Maintaining Your Healing offers more faith-based
parenting tools. It will explore the use of forgiveness, reconciliation, and wonder to assist parents in “re-pairing” families built by love. This seminar will continue to develop the healing model that transforms parenting by control to parenting by influence and identity.

This article provides an update on CCR in addition to a list of legislation that affects families/children in care. Even if you don't have the time to read it all in one sitting, it would be a good idea to keep it on hand for reference.
We have been informed that the bulk of the Aquarium passes dispersed to our volunteers, have not yet been used. We are unable to request additional tickets until 80% of what CASA was provided with has been used.
If you have been given aquarium passes and are not planning to use them in the near future, we ask that you please return them to our office so we can provide them to volunteers who are requesting tickets. You can always request them again!
Thank you for your help, please let us know if you have any questions.
