Already April and Easter are nearly on us again. Typically, family get together time, perhaps some family could be persuaded to pose for portraits. The results of the Double Exposure and Triptych competitions will be revealed on club night. Your Elements and Open images are due.
A warm welcome to new members and welcome back to existing members. If you are interested in joining, don't hesitate to come along and join the fun.

The natural Elements are what we are after. Water, Fire, Air, Earth. You can combine the elements or have your images show the effects of elements.

Changes to the Club's competition programme
President's Challenge
A generous donation of $500 is to be made to the club as a prize pool for the President’s Challenge competition.  The money is to be used as payment for a single club subscription for the winner until the amount is used up. The prize is to become effective this year. As a result the committee has decided to switch the President’s Challenge competition to October replacing the Creative Trophy which will now be held in June.

Landscape Trophy New Zealand
Please note, the Landscape Trophy is amended from Northland to anywhere in New Zealand.
Subscription fees are now due:
  • Single member $65,
  • Double or Family membership $85,
  • Junior member (to 18 years) $45.
Fees can be paid to the treasurer on club night or can be paid directly into the
club bank account. ASB 12-3093- 0144102- 00 
If fees are paid directly to the club account, please include your name and club number in the details.

Club Outings

Kawau Island  16th to 18th April

We plan to stay at the Sand Spit Holiday Park where campsites and cabins are available and take a day trip to Kawau Island on Saturday 17 April.
At present there is a special for the Royal Mail Cruise on GrabOne NZ for $44 per adult.

Royal Mail Run cruise details

The Royal Mail Run Cruise is the largest mail run by water in the Southern Hemisphere and is a wonderful way for people of all ages to discover the history and natural beauty of Kawau Island. You'll cruise the breathtaking bays on a luxurious ferry offering uninterrupted views of the Hauraki Gulf and the Matakana coastline with Kawau Cruises and enjoy an island stopover at Mansion House Reserve. Your informative skipper will provide a commentary as you cruise past over 85 different wharves, delivering freight and mail to the island residents. While on board, you can also watch Gannet birds diving for food and hear the melodic call of the Tui bird – you'll even get the chance to watch for penguins and dolphins. A traditional kiwi BBQ lunch on board is on offer as an optional extra.

Mirrors and Glass 
 The club owns a large mirror which will be available to use.
What to Bring: Glass/ Crystal balls, wine glasses, glass bowls,
spare spectacles. Coloured lighting/torch
Anything you can photograph through glass.

Club Exhibition 
Our Exhibition has been booked with Reyburn House for three weeks starting 15 November 2021. If you are fortune enough to be awarded the coveted grading of Honors or Highly Commended keep in mind those images for the exhibition.
This 'n That
The "Three Artists Two Shores" exhibition at Reyburn House displays from March 23rd to April 11th. One of the artists, Lesley Cleary creates oil paintings from photographs.

The Shutter Room will be holding a Group Exhibition of photographs by Northland Photographers 9th April. All genres of photography accepted. This is a great opportunity for existing and emerging photographers to exhibit their work at the gallery, situated in the Old Library in Rust Ave.
The works can be of any size, they do not have to be framed and can be for sale. Entries accepted from Saturday 27 March 10.00 - 1.00pm and Monday, Tuesday Wednesday 29 - 31 March 10.00-12.00 at the Shutter Room Gallery. Cost of entry; Shutter Room Members $10, Non Members $25.
