International Anti-corruption Conference
1- 4 DECEMBER 2016
Main Title Here
Welcome to the 17th IACC in Panama City, Panama!

From 1-4 December, over 1300 visitors are gathering in Panama under the banner of ‘Time for Justice: Equity, Security, Trust.’ The four-day conference is packed with opportunities for anti-corruption activists and experts to exchange, learn and enjoy.

The IACC Young Journalists team will fan out to cover the event, and each day we’ll deliver highlights straight to your inbox. The full agenda is available here. You can also follow the proceedings on Twitter using #17IACC

Below are just a few of the events you won’t want to miss:

Panama Papers plenaries
The Panama Papers revelations are the story of the year. On the opening afternoon of the IACC, hear from some of the protagonists who brought the secrets to light. In a second plenary, learn more about the fallout of the Panama Papers leaks in examples from Argentina, Iceland and Russia.

Catch a flick…
Did you know there’s a film festival taking place amid the other IACC events? Transparency International, ECOCINEMA and BRITDOC have curated Films for Transparency. There are 16 screenings of films that convey the human dimension of the issues tackled within the IACC agenda. Make sure to catch one of the shows! For a full schedule, click here.

Conference in a conference
This year’s IACC is proud to welcome the annual Conference of Latin American Investigative Journalists (COLPIN). COLPIN will feature over 15 sessions dedicated to the state of investigative journalism in the region, with topics such as reporting police crimes, money laundering and Brazil’s Lava Jato case.

Race for Transparency
Want to stretch your legs? On the morning of Sunday, 4 December you can join in a 5k race through the streets of Panama City as part of the ‘Race for Transparency’. Join the delegation of your country or organisation!

Anti-corruption concert
In the lead-up to the IACC, JM International and Transparency International organised Fair Play, a global competition for original songs by young bands (18-35 years) on the theme of anti-corruption. The winning artists are in town and will perform live at a unique concert (more details to come). Enjoy the music!
And the winner is…
The centrepiece of Saturday’s Gala Dinner will be the ceremony recognising the winners of two prestigious awards.
  • Transparency International will present its Anti-Corruption Award, which recognises the courage and determination of the many individuals and organisations fighting corruption around the world.
  • Instituto Prensa y Sociedad (Press and Society Institute, IPYS) will present its Latin American Investigative Journalism Award, which recognises the region’s best investigative journalists and their efforts to reveal and confront corruption.

Be sure to attend the ceremony and hear directly from this year’s winners!
