Greetings from club president Joe Glover

New Albany Rotary Members and Friends:
Happy New Year, Rotarians and friends from Southern Indiana.
I hope you all had a joyous and peaceful holiday season and that you are off to a good start for the New Year.
As I reflect on the whirlwind of activity in my first six months as Club President, I am even more energized to be a Rotarian, and I hope the same is true for you in 2021.
I genuinely believe our club members are a potent force and catalyst for good in our community and worldwide. I am proud to be among this group. This newsletter contains a lot of useful information on what is happening in our club along with details on upcoming plans.
As we begin a new year, I'd like to take a chance to remind our club members and those following our club about something our international President said almost a year ago in San Diego, California.  During his remarks last year, RI President Holger Knaack stressed the need for Rotary members to embrace change. Knaack noted that time wouldn't slow down for Rotary: "We will not let rapid change defeat us. We will capture this moment to grow Rotary, making it stronger, more adaptable, and even more aligned with our core values."
This is our shared challenge in 2021. We must not slow down and let rapid change cause us to lose our focus on our mission. Your New Albany club's board of directors and incoming leadership team is dedicated to leading us into 2021 and beyond with a renewed focus on what makes Rotary valuable to our members and our community. Change is hard, rapid change is harder, but together we can accomplish anything. Once again, we will prove that the Rotary Club of New Albany's enduring spirit will continue to forge a path of service and fellowship into the next 100 years.
I am looking forward to continuing my work for the remainder of my term as President of this club, and I hope you will join me by continuing to help our club by volunteering your time and talents to help us through this new year.
May 2021 be more prosperous than ever and keep you in good health!
Yours in Rotary Service,
--Joe Glover
2020-21 President
Rotary Club of New Albany

Thank you so much for supporting the New Albany Rotary Club this year.  As you may know, the Rotary Community Toast and Benefit Banquet, has been a tradition in our community and our primary fundraiser for 26 years. The event is a wonderful evening of fellowship as we honor a member of the local community and who exemplifies the Rotary motto, “Service Above Self”. Due to the COVID pandemic however, the event has been cancelled for 2020.
Though we are unable to host an in person fundraising event, the Rotary Club of New Albany remains dedicated to serving the community. Each year, the Club supports charitable programs with funds generated by the Rotary Community Toast and Benefit. Even without this year’s event, you can help us sustain the following:
Local student scholarships            $5,000
Community Grants                        $9,000
Disaster Relief projects                 $2,000
Local High School Seniors will be looking for scholarship support as they are making decisions to attend college in 2021.  Local non-profits are struggling to meet the demands of this pandemic and the Rotary Club will continue the “Community Grants” program in 2021. The New Albany Rotary Club will secure funds for local disaster relief that can be issued as needed per the charge of our board.
The Rotary Club of New Albany receives numerous requests for donations from the community. Proceeds accumulated from previous Rotary Community Toast and Benefit Banquets have been distributed among many community and international projects and organizations.
Your gift at this time will be an important investment into the future of our community. Your generosity makes a meaningful difference in people’s lives right here in our own back yard.  We hope you will assist us in sustaining our community by supporting the New Albany Rotary Club fundraising efforts.
Please send your donation made out to Rotary Foundation of New Albany, Inc. and mail  to PO BOX 141, New Albany, IN 47151 or go online to to donate with a credit card.
One of our volunteers will provide you with a receipt for your donation.
Thank you for your consideration,
~The Board of Directors, Rotary Club of New Albany
Disasters haven’t stopped for coronavirus. Neither have Rotary and ShelterBox.
ShelterBox and Rotary clubs have continued to support families throughout the global pandemic. Despite the new challenges, they have been able to support 200,000 people around the world this year with emergency shelter and aid.  Story
