Day and Night

There were two distinct events last Saturday in Austin.

The daytime tailgate that we co-hosted with the Austin Club was nothing short of epic. Best estimates indicate over 650 people took part in the semi-annual event. We had people from all over the state of Texas as well as visitors from Iowa and beyond while raising a lot of money for the FFA and 4H Clubs in Manor, TX through our BBQ experts at Soap Creek Saloon Cookers. As day turned into night we migrated over to Darrel K Royal Memorial Stadium to watch our Cyclones take on the Longhorns. Things started out well enough as ISU jumped out to a tenuous 6-0 lead early and went into the locker rooms at halftime ahead 6-3. The 3rd quarter was a different story as Texas scored 24 unanswered points to win the game 27-6. It was a step back for a weary Iowa State team. Luckily the team will have a chance to rest this weekend and prepare for Homecoming against Kansas St in Farmageddon on Oct 29th at 11AM.

The outcome wasn't what we hoped for but the day was a success on every other front. It's always satisfying to encounter so many Cyclones away from Ames as they truly are the best fanbase around.

Hi Y’all!

My name is Megan Rich and I am brand new to the DFW area, as well as a recent grad from the Gerdin College of Business at Iowa State! Although I grew up as a Hawkeye fan, my three siblings and I quickly corrected our parents’ mistake by all attending Iowa State. My younger brother and sister are currently students at Iowa State and my brother and sister-in-law are alumni, as well.

Upon graduating, I took a job with OnPoint Promos, the sister company to University Tees, whom I worked for throughout college. University Tees and OnPoint Promos, both provide custom apparel and promotional products to the collegiate and non-collegiate markets, respectively, and I am proud to say that I am one of the first remote team members working for OnPoint in the Dallas area.

Cyclone Hoops Tickets

The Iowa State Alumni Association Club of DFW is offering group rate tickets for men's basketball games throughout Texas and Oklahoma (OU, OSU, Baylor, TCU, UT, Texas Tech, Texas A&M). Details below. All credit card fees and postage/shipping fees are included. Tickets will be sent out at least one week prior to gameday. Pregame gatherings will begin at least 3 hours prior to tipoff depending upon the event with details available via future newsletters as well as at DFWCyclones.com

Please get your orders in as soon as possible. We will begin ordering blocks of tickets from the various schools as early as Friday, Oct. 28th. Seats are assigned on a first come, first serve basis so the earlier you order the better your seats will be. Tickets ordered after the Oct. 28th soft deadline may or may not be in the main ticket block of ISU fans. We will always do our best to get everyone together, but there are no guarantees. We will be able to purchase tickets up to a couple of weeks prior to each game as long as seats are available through the box offices.

This is the 3rd year of offering game tickets and the team loves seeing all of the Cyclone fans in the stands. We hope to arrange assistant coaches to join with us at our pregame meetup for a short Q&A session at the TCU and OU games, but that will be subject to what we can arrange at the time. The club has developed a very good relationship with the athletic department and we are hoping to provide our members the high level of access that everyone has become accustomed to. Participation in DFW Cyclone events has its privileges!

For the third consecutive year we have will raffle off a one of a kind item to raise money for the DFW Cyclones Scholarship Fund. This year we have an authentic Riddell replica football helmet signed by new Cyclone coach Matt Campbell.

Once again, we will be selling tickets at each football gamewatch and tailgate for $10 each.
