KIWIN’S Training Conference

For this KIWIN’S conference, members of CKI@OCC, having a chance to dress formally, serves as sergeant-at-arms to ensure the safety of the attendees of this event.  While our sister club members go through different workshops that enhance life skills, we are in charge of guiding them into the right direction, serving lunch as well as keeping the order. We are so proud to see that the KIWIN members hosts so many useful workshops and information. Shoutout to our very own president, Anne Thy Le, for hosting a workshop, Key to College, to guide the upcoming college freshmen to success in higher education, in this event.

7 Leaves Social

On October 24th, after the general meeting, we have hosted another 7 leaves social to bond with members.

Dylan's Pie
Dylan Huynh was our 2018-2019 Fundraising chair for our club. He devoted his time to Circle K and was an outgoing student at Orange Coast College. His work within Circle K will never be forgotten. To commemorate his work, achievements and during the week of his birthday, we hosted our first ever Dylan’s Pie Fundraiser where 75% of profits went towards one of our District Fundraising Initiatives and 25% of profits went towards club operations. The DFI that 75% of our profits donated to is the Trevor Project as they help many young LGBTQ+ members through their crisis intervention and suicide prevention services. Dylan previously hosted this Fundraiser, but did not call it this name. Dylan Huynh was a member of the LGBTQ+ community and made a huge impact on people’s lives by helping many individuals. For this fundraising we sold in total 136 pies.

Community STEM night is one of the biggest events hosted by Orange Coast College, featuring open houses to thousands to children from dozens of OCC science and technology departments. As the chairing club of this event, CKI@OCC is in charge of coordinating volunteers for this event. Aside from providing crowd security and setting up, CKI@OCC sends its volunteers to different venues to help with other clubs and department group across OCC.

Shoutout to our very own Bobby Pyle and Nyall (last name) for coordinating volunteers for this event although they have only been in the CKI for 3 months!

CKI South

Crazy Kompetition for Infants (CKI) South is an annual event that raises money for the Pediatric Trauma Program (PTP) through a series of fun, competitive games and relays. Compete against other members, support an amazing cause, and see which team will be the last one standing! It is a great pleasure for CKI@OCC to send a team to compete in this charity, district- wide event. Our team, named Pirate Pack, has a chance to be active in the sun to compete in fun activities with other CKI clubs from universities all over Southern California. It is a great time for our members to bond with each other as well as meeting new people from other schools. For more information about PTP, check out this link.

Member Of the Month: October

For the month of October, the board is honored to spotlight the club's member of the month,
Bobby Pyle
Even though Bobby is a new member of the club, he takes the extra step to attend most of the service events for the last two months. Not only that, Bobby volunteers to become a co-chair for CKI@OCC at OCC STEM Night, which is one biggest club event in the fall semester. Thank you Bobby, keep striving.
