Recap

Forth of July

On the behalf of Circle K at Orange Coast College, the board hopes you have had an amazing and safe experience on our nation's independence day.

TNT Fireworks Sale Booth

In participation of the Forth of July, Circle K at Orange Coast College has the chance to volunteer at the annual Kiwanis of Costa Mesa Fireworks Booth. To ensure the success of the event, our current members, as well as alumni, hold many tasks, such as setting up, holding signs, creating advertisements, and selling the fireworks. This was a great opportunity for all CKI members to interact and bond with each other and with Kiwanians. Above all, the hardworking members manage to raise $925 for the club! In the final day of sale, the members celebrate the holiday day together by lighting leftover fireworks!

Concert in the Park

We have a chance to partner with Costa Mesa Community Foundation to set up the event on every Tuesday in July. Hosted in Costa Mesa Fairview Park, Concerts in the Park is a free family entertainment event that features live music, gourmet food trucks and kid activities, sponsored by local businesses. The CKI members also meet up and bond with other OCC clubs' members. On the final day, members have a picnic with Kiwanis family while enjoying live music.

Grove Restoration

The Circle K members have the chance to inter-clubbing with CKI@CSUF and restore the Outdoor Education Center in Irvine by mulching, weeding, watering, brush cleaning, and general cleanup around the area. While catching a tan by working hard under the sun, the members have a taste of fresh plums handpicked from the tree. It is a great time exploring the park and the facilities.

Member Of the Month: June

For the month of June, the board is honored to spotlight the club's member of the month,

Kelly Closet

The Kiwanis Club of Costa Mesa has sponsored Kelly’s Closet, a service project to provide school clothes, computers, supplies, and hygiene kits to low-income children selected by the Boys & Girls Club in Costa Mesa. In 2018, in a $13,000 project, we fully outfitted 30 children to be ready to compete on an equal footing with their classmates. The children had a great experience at Macy's, South Coast Plaza as they learned how to shop and had fun doing so. Our volunteers have been a valuable resource for changing the lives of these children by providing them the necessities and commitment to help them reach higher education.
This is a meaningful event and we encourage you to come out and volunteer a difference to these kids' lives.
