The weather tried to keep you away, but you came out anyway! American Express reported there was an estimated $19.6 billion in spending at independent retailers and restaurants on Saturday, obliterating last year’s figure of an estimated $17.8 billion (which was also a record at the time). Raven's Cold Town/Hotline opens this weekend. This family-friendly Chicago Holiday story is great for ages 7 and up. Don't miss the special release of Raven's podcast this Thursday, December 5. More info below. 
Business News Highlights 
Raven Theatre is pleased to present the world premiere of the heartwarming, family-friendly comedy COLD TOWN/HOTLINE: A Chicago Holiday Story, playing November 30th through December 22nd on Raven’s 85-seat East Stage, 6157 N. Clark St. (at Granville) in Chicago. Tickets are currently available here or by calling (773) 338-2177. Join Raven for opening weekend and find out what happens in December,1983 when five volunteers answer calls for a hotline created to help fellow Chicagoans cope with the holiday blues.
On Saturday, December 7, The Wooden Spoon celebrates 17 years! Sean Sheridan bought the building at 5047 N Clark in 1998 with a vision for the perfect business: A bike shop. Trina, then his culinary-minded girlfriend, now wife & business partner, had a different dream: A cooking school. And so, The Wooden Spoon was born. Seventeen years, three kids, and a million delicious moments later, Sean and Trina are celebrating you: The Wooden Spoon’s community. Stop in store on December 7 from 10AM-6PM to enter to win a cooking class for 2, shop deals and discounts on kitchenware, and spin the prize wheel for even more discounts and prizes.
Visit the Swedish American Museum (5211 N Clark) for Julmarknad this weekend. Julmarknad is the Museum’s annual Christmas Bazaar, where traditional Scandinavian and modern handicrafts will be available for purchase. The Children’s Museum will host crafts, games and a special visit from Santa. It’s entertainment for the whole family and includes kaffestuga, Lucia processions and folk dancers! Some of the Julmarknad vendors will be set up in time for Late Night Andersonville on Friday, December 6 from 5-9PM. Stop by the Museum when you shop for holiday items in the neighborhood.
Also, this Saturday, December 7 celebrate with the family at the Chicago Waldorf Holiday Fair from 10AM-5PM. This annual Fair features children's games, crafts, musical entertainment and a magical tot-sized shop filled with handcrafted treasures children can select for their loved ones. For shoppers, there are nearly 40 craft and local food purveyors featuring handmade and organic goods. You don't want to miss this joy-filled event.

Join Bezz Training in celebrating their official grand opening with an open house this Saturday and Sunday, December 7 & 8. The Andersonville Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a ribbon cutting at 11AM at 6033 N. Sheridan Road. They will be offering free classes all weekend, open gym time, food, drinks, prizes and more. Santa Claus is busier than ever in Andersonville this weekend. If you missing giving your wishlist at The Guesthouse Hotel on Friday night 6-9PM, you can visit the jolly old elf throughout the weekend. On December 7 from 12-3PM, join Mr. Andersonville at Clark and Berwyn, meet Santa, and get a free photo. Also, on Saturday stop into Lady Gregory's from 5:30-7PM. Make sure you bring a toy donation for Care For Real. On Sunday, December 8, you can catch Santa at TK Photography. Book your mini photo session here. Santa will be at Urban Pooch 4501 N. Ravenswood at 11AM and from 3-5:30PM at Urban Pooch 5400 N. Damen. The Lytle House on Broadway is hosting photos as well from 5-6PM. Somebody bring him some cookies!
