On Jan. 16, we reported that House Bill (HB) 343 had been passed by the House Ways and Means Committee for recommendation to the full House. We are pleased to report the bill has not yet been scheduled for a floor vote.

However, we have learned that the Ohio Chamber of Commerce voted this week to make HB 343 a priority. As supporters of the bill, they have notified all House members that they will be tracking which representatives vote for (or against) the bill. We fear this new focus on the bill by an organization representing the business community will create pressure on House leadership to pass it.

Therefore, it is imperative that we balance the chamber’s support for the bill with our own contacts in opposition!

Our organizations recently sent a letter reiterating our opposition to HB 343 to the House speaker and all other House members. Click here for a copy of our letter. Feel free to use the talking points from the letter in your communications with your legislator.

Even if you have already contacted your own House member to oppose the bill, another contact is needed!
