Like you and your schools, the Ohio School Boards Association is closely monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to ensuring our members have the most recent information and guiding them through this unprecedented time, we are taking proactive steps to address a number of business concerns. First and foremost, we want to maintain a safe workplace and encourage and/or adopt practices protecting the health of employees, customers, visitors or others. We also want to ensure the continuity of business operations during the pandemic.

In accordance with the executive order by the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) and to ensure the health and safety of our members, OSBA is announcing that it will be canceling all in-person meetings and workshops from March 13 through April 23. We will be using innovative delivery methods to continue our training and services to members following April 23.

If members have already paid for a workshop or event during this time period, they do not need to contact OSBA to receive a refund. OSBA will refund any registrations automatically. If the event is rescheduled for later in the year, participants will be asked at that time to re-register for the workshop.

To further comply with Gov. Mike DeWine’s request to consider flexible work sites and other solutions to stem the spread of COVID-19, the OSBA office will initiate remote operations from March 17 through April 3. During this time, business will continue with the OSBA staff working away from our physical office. We want to assure you that the legal hotline and all other services will continue without interruption.

OSBA continues to consult with the governor’s office, ODH and the Ohio Department of Education (ODE). We have collected resources from ODE and ODH at http://www.ohioschoolboards.org/coronavirus. As another resource, please visit the Ohio Department of Education’s webpage at http://education.ohio.gov/coronavirus

OSBA will continue to evaluate if future meetings and events need to be adjusted. Watch for future notices on that webpage and through emails and postings on Facebook and Twitter.

Please contact us at (614) 540-4000 or (800) 589-OSBA with any questions you may have. Thank you for your support and continued service to Ohio’s public school students.

Thank you,

Rick Lewis                                   Lee Schreiner
