On December 23, 2022, US federal District Court judge Robert Scola released his decision not to recognize the diplomatic status of Venezuelan diplomat Alex Saab. This decision, and Alex Saab’s continued detention in a Miami jail, is a further violation of international law, and a continued injustice against Alex Saab and the people of Venezuela who fight every day against the criminal US blockade and sanctions on Venezuela.
Despite some small steps towards alleviating sanctions on Venezuela’s oil industry, the U.S. government, and their allies, including Canada are showing no signs of lessoning the suffering they have imposed on the people of Venezuela. It is the responsibility of peace-loving people in the U.S., Canada, and around the world to fight for the freedom of Alex Saab and stand with the people of Venezuela who struggle every day in defense of Venezuela’s sovereignty and self-determination.
Join in the action on January 31 to hear more updates on the case of Alex Saab, direct from his wife, Camilla Saab, who is leading the campaign for his freedom, as well as speakers from Mexico and the U.S. on the impact of U.S.-led blockade and sanctions on people in Venezuela.

El 23 de diciembre de 2022, el juez del EE.UU. Tribunal Federal de Distrito Robert Scola, emitió su decisión de no reconocer el estatus diplomático del diplomático venezolano Alex Saab. Esta decisión, y la detención continua de Alex Saab en una cárcel de Miami, es una violación más del derecho internacional y una injusticia continua contra Alex Saab y el pueblo de Venezuela que lucha todos los días contra el bloqueo y las sanciones criminales de Estados Unidos contra Venezuela.
A pesar de algunos pequeños pasos para aliviar las sanciones a la industria petrolera de Venezuela, el gobierno de los EE.UU. y sus aliados, incluido Canadá, no muestran signos de aliviar el sufrimiento que han impuesto al pueblo de Venezuela. Es responsabilidad de las personas amantes de la paz en los EE.UU., Canadá y en todo el mundo luchar por la libertad de Alex Saab y apoyar al pueblo de Venezuela que lucha todos los días en defensa de la soberanía y la autodeterminación de Venezuela.
