CARLOS RON, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs for North America at the Venezuelan Ministry of External Affairs and President of the Simon Bolivar Institute for Peace and Solidarity Among Peoples. As a diplomat, he was Venezuela’s Chargé d’affaires to the United States of America (2017-2018), and he has represented Venezuela in the United States (2014-2018) and Brazil (2010-2014).
DR. MARIA PÁEZ VICTOR, one of the founders of the Louis Riel Bolivarian Circle, founded in 2003 in Toronto, Canada. She is a sociologist, born in Venezuela, with graduate degrees from Venezuela, UK and Canada. She is an author, retired from university teaching and consulting and is the producer of the only radio program in Canada exclusively on Venezuela, VENEZUELA VIVA.
JILL CLARK-GOLLUB, organizer with Friends of Latin America, a solidarity organization based in Maryland, and Assistant Editor/Translator at the Council on Hemispheric Affairs (COHA). Jill will be speaking about the new Americas Without Sanctions campaign, a campaign to end all unilateral coercive measures imposed on the countries of the Americas, specifically those harming the peoples of Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela.

On December 20, 2023, Venezuelan Diplomat Alex Saab was released from U.S. prison! This is a tremendous victory for his family, the people of Venezuela, and the international campaign for his freedom. The return of Alex Saab to Venezuela is a victory against the inhuman U.S. blockade on Venezuela and for all working and oppressed people around the world who struggle for justice and freedom against U.S.-led wars, occupations, sanctions, and attacks.
With this tremendous victory, we are assured that through building a more united and stronger movement, we will also defeat the cruel U.S.-led blockade and sanctions on Venezuela. Join this month’s picket to add your voice and stand alongside the people of Venezuela who struggle every day to defend their sovereignty and self-determination!
>> Picket action organized by Fire This Time Movement for Social Justice Venezuela Solidarity Campaign, Venezuela Peace Committee in Winnipeg, and Just Peace Advocates with the support of Venezuela solidarity organizations and individuals across Canada.
*** Everyone is encouraged to make protest signs, display banners, or wear t-shirts in solidarity with Venezuela. These can be displayed in a group photo at the end of the online picket! But don’t worry if you don’t have a sign - your participation is the greatest sign of solidarity.

El 20 de diciembre de 2023, el diplomático venezolano Alex Saab fue liberado de una prisión estadounidense. Esta es una tremenda victoria para su familia, el pueblo de Venezuela y la campaña internacional por su libertad. El regreso de Alex Saab a Venezuela es una victoria contra el inhumano bloqueo estadounidense contra Venezuela y para todos los trabajadores y pueblos oprimidos de todo el mundo que luchan por la justicia y la libertad contra las guerras, ocupaciones, sanciones y ataques, liderados por Estados Unidos.
Con esta tremenda victoria, tenemos la seguridad de que, mediante la construcción de un movimiento más unido y más fuerte, también derrotaremos el cruel bloqueo y las sanciones lideradas por Estados Unidos contra Venezuela. ¡Únase al piquete de este mes para sumar su voz y apoyar al pueblo de Venezuela que lucha todos los días para defender su soberanía y autodeterminación!
