On February 3, 1999, Hugo Chavez was inaugurated as President of Venezuela for the first time. This tremendous occasion marks the beginning of the Bolivarian revolutionary government in Venezuela, which continues today with President Nicolas Maduro and the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV).
For 25 years, the people of Venezuela have continued to build the Bolivarian Revolution, making great advances for the lives of oppressed, poor, and working people in Venezuela. Throughout this time, the United States government, and their imperialist allies, including Canada, have carried out a campaign of overt and covert military interventions, psychological warfare, coup attempts, blockades and sanctions against Venezuela.
Join in this month’s picket as we mark this special occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Bolivarian Revolution with guest speakers discussing the current situation on the ground in Venezuela and building a more united and stronger Venezuela solidarity movement. We will continue to unite our voices and defend Venezuela’s sovereignty and self-determination!
>> Picket action organized by Fire This Time Movement for Social Justice Venezuela Solidarity Campaign, Venezuela Peace Committee in Winnipeg, and Just Peace Advocates with the support of Venezuela solidarity organizations and individuals across Canada.
*** Everyone is encouraged to make protest signs, display banners, or wear t-shirts in solidarity with Venezuela. These can be displayed in a group photo at the end of the online picket! But don’t worry if you don’t have a sign - your participation is the greatest sign of solidarity.

El 3 de febrero de 1999 Hugo Chávez asumió por primera vez la presidencia de Venezuela. Esta tremenda ocasión marca el inicio del gobierno revolucionario bolivariano en Venezuela, que continúa hoy con el presidente Nicolás Maduro y el Partido Socialista Unido de Venezuela (PSUV).
Durante 25 años, el pueblo de Venezuela ha seguido construyendo la Revolución Bolivariana, logrando grandes avances para las vidas de los pueblos oprimidos, humildes, y los trabajadores en Venezuela. A lo largo de este tiempo, el gobierno de Estados Unidos y sus aliados imperialistas, incluido Canadá, han llevado a cabo una campaña de intervenciones militares abiertas y encubiertas, guerra psicológica, intentos de golpe, bloqueos y sanciones contra Venezuela.
Únase a la acción de este mes mientras conmemoramos esta ocasión especial del 25º aniversario de la Revolución Bolivariana con oradores invitados que discutirán la situación actual sobre el terreno en Venezuela y la construcción de un movimiento de solidaridad venezolano más unido y más fuerte. ¡Seguiremos uniendo nuestras voces y defendiendo la soberanía y autodeterminación de Venezuela!
