EPRA Monthly Brief
March 2021
The pandemic brought our sector many challenges but also many opportunities for defining new growth strategies, repositioning business portfolios, digital transformation… It is with this in mind that EPRA and INSEAD, one of the world's leading and largest graduate business schools, have joined forces to develop a unique Executive Programme for listed real estate practitioners. The online course, “Strategy for Listed Real Estate – What Good Looks Like”, will reunite participants from a range of different business backgrounds who wish to explore and better understand the key strategic challenges faced in the real estate sector, and to adapt to a transforming business environment. You will find more information about the dates, modules and application process in the core of this brief.

While most of the meetings and webinar still have to remain virtual, including our flagship EPRA & Bloomberg Intelligence Real Estate Finance, scheduled for April 22, I’m pleased to report that the planning for the hybrid EPRA Conference is gathering pace. After a break last year, we just opened sponsorship opportunities for the 2021 edition, with enhanced benefits suited to the hybrid format of the event, among which the possibility to showcase virtual property tours and advertise for 90 days on a dedicated virtual platform. If you wish to know more, please contact the team at

Finally, and as always, I would like to welcome our latest members: CTP, Nexity and Norwegian Property.

European Green Deal: Challenges and opportunities for the listed real estate sector

Buildings are responsible for around 40% of energy consumption in Europe. There is a significant annual investment gap estimated at around EUR 177 billion, totalling EUR 1.77 trillion between 2021 and 2030, out of which the biggest gap relates to investment in energy efficiency in buildings (74%). In this context, the European Commission’s European Green Deal strategy and its commitment to promote a shift towards more sustainable investments may lead to a transformation of the real estate sector we see today, including listed real estate. EPRA’s Jana Bour summarises some of the challenges as well as opportunities for listed property companies and Real Estate Investment Trusts here.
