EPRA Monthly Brief
February 2022
As we witness the dramatic situation unfolding in Ukraine, I am grateful to see EPRA members once again coming up with practical solutions and financial support for refugees. These initiatives are another reminder of what responsibility towards our communities means.

I would just like to take this opportunity to remind you that there are still a few days left to enrol to EPRA’s latest executive programme developed by Bayes Business School. An online course to deepen your knowledge of the listed real estate sector. You will find more information about the programme in the core of this brief.

And always, I would like to welcome our newest member: Life Science REIT.

Inflation and short-term impact on listed property companies

Global inflation has increased significantly during the last couple of years, mainly due to supply disruptions coupled with recovering demand, as well as rising commodity and housing prices. The current inflationary pressure is likely to be temporary and its short-term impact should represent a positive driver for the listed real estate industry in Europe. There is evidence of a strong and positive correlation between corporate profits and inflation as well as shareholders’ returns and inflation. At the same time, rental practices in Europe facilitate the integration of inflation dynamics into the companies’ revenues and support rental growth.
