Encouragement

September can be overwhelming. There are so many new things starting and our schedules are overflowing. Or maybe things are starting for everyone BUT us, and we are drowning in loneliness. It might even feel like someone is holding us under the water. I can easily feel both things at the same time. Surrounded by opportunities yet utterly alone. We long for calmer waters. We long for a friend. We long for purpose. We long to be well.

I am experiencing the struggle to return to activities and relationships since the world is opening up again. I am feeling the pull to return to the status quo and also the desire to start from scratch. Everything seems so complicated.

More than anything, even more than the overwhelming tides of life, I feel drawn to know God and be known by Him.  To see Him and feel His presence in my life each day.  To overcome my fears and look up.

We read in the Gospel of Mark that the waves, the thoughts and feelings that are drowning us, obey Jesus. How astounding! Our hardships and fears obey Jesus! We must keep our eyes on Him, just as Peter did.

Jesus said “Take courage. It is I. Do not be afraid”  I need to take courage and that means I need to look at Jesus.  To pray, to meditate on His true words, to walk together with all of you and look together at our Rescuer.

Let’s walk together this Fall.  Let’s look up and remind each other that Jesus is the master of the waves and even in the deep waters, He is there.

Opportunities and Classes

During Fall 2021 and Winter 2022, the Tuesday morning Women's Bible Study will focus on the book of Luke, becoming reacquainted with Jesus Christ. Using Lydia Brownback's study guide, "LUKE: Good News of Great Joy," the study will spend two weeks on each lesson, giving time to explore, learn, reflect on the scripture and consider the questions presented. The study group will be held in person at CPC, beginning September 14 at 10am. But I don't want to surrender!  It's normal. It's natural. It's human to want to be in control.  But when your need for peace surpasses your desire for control, God-who truly uses all things for our good-demonstrates how much we can trust him. The very act of completely surrendering our will to his can become the one act that will change your life forever.  During these 5 sessions together during the Sunday School hour, we will spend time listening, discussing, and praying through this topic with other CPC women.  Will you consider being there?
This five week class will be held during the 9:30 hour on Sundays beginning October 17.
