Weekend Roundup, Jan 19-21


Cabin fever? Take advantage of the big thaw and get out of the house. There’s plenty to do and see this weekend. Here’s a handy list to get you started.


Events in the Sanford/Lee County Area this Weekend

Friday

  • Baseball Signups at Gilbert Lett Family Park, 100 Gilbert Lett Dr, Broadway NC
    When:
    6-8p
    What: The Broadway Basecball Club will hold signups at the clubhouse every Friday from 6-8p and every Saturday from 2-6p through the registration period for each of their sports. Leagues include youth baseball and softball. The club also offers wood bat for teens and adults as well as men’s softball and flag football.
  • Movie Night at the Stevens Center, 1576 Kelly Dr, Sanford NC
    When:
    6:30-9:30p
    What: Watch the original Jumanji, starring Robin Williams, for free. Bring a snack or purchase one from the center. You can bring your own chair or borrow one.
  • Fiesta Friday Social at Sanford Latin Dance, 109 S. Steele St, Sanford NC
    When:
    9p-1:30a
    What: Beginners’ salsa lessons start at 9p and open dancing starts at 10p. The event is $10 per adult. Bring a dessert or appetizer to share. No partner or experience needed.

Saturday

  • Pints & Poses at Libations, 139 Chatham St, Sanford NC
    When:
    10a-12p
    What: Yoga will be offered for $10, which includes a libation. Bring your own yoga mat.
  • Girl Scout Cookie Booth at Food Lion, 1931 S. Horner Blvd, Sanford NC
    When:
    11a-3p
    What: Troop 1401 will sell Girl Scout cookies of all varieties at the Food Lion by Lee Senior, including favorites like Thin Mints, Caramel deLites, and Peanut Butter Patties. They will also have gluten-free oatmeal peanut butter cookies. Cookies are $4 per box.
  • Classic Nashville Roadshow at the Temple Theatre, 120 Carthage St, Sanford NC
    When:
    2p
    What: See Jason Petty and Katie Deal will perform in the “Sequined Sequel” to last year’s show complete with classic hits from country music’s greats. Tickets are $15/student and $27/adult.

    What: Enjoy dinner, desserts, and dancing as well as a mask contest and door prizes at this fundraiser for the church’s mission team. The cost is $25 per person.
