Mid Wales tourism industry leaders say ‘No’ to possible new tax

Immediate: July 14, 2017 Suggestions of a new Welsh Government tourism levy have met with instant opposition from the industry in Mid Wales. The Welsh Government Finance Secretary Mark Drakeford has appealed for people and organisations to come forward with ideas which could be developed into new Welsh taxes. A possible tourism levy is one of the ideas put forward by the Bevan Foundation, a Valleys think tank but no further details have emerged about whether it will be paid ...

Last call for responses to Low Pay Commission Consultation

The Low Pay Commission is the independent body that monitors the impact of the minimum wage and advises Government on its level. The LPC is seeking evidence of the impact of the most recent increases to inform thinking about future upratings with initial views sought by 7 July. Visit Britain Report on IPS figures for April 2017

VisitBritain has published it's report on the IPS figures for April. These show that inbound tourism for the first four months of the year is significantly ahead of 2016 (visits up 11% and spend up 14%). This is above the forecasts that VB made at the beginning of the year which were increases in revenue of 8% and 10% respectively.
