Vice-Chancellor's Voice

Good morning. I’m looking forward to joining Drs Andrew and Nicola Forrest, the Honourable Julie Bishop and colleagues from across the state’s universities tomorrow to celebrate the official opening of Forrest Hall. Forrest Hall is a state-of-the-art student residence which will enhance the University’s international reputation as a world-class institution and as a centre for innovation and new ideas.

This is just one of several Campus Management projects underway, including EZONE, the Indigenous Studies building and the Wave Energy Research Centre in Albany, all of which will contribute to enriching the students’ experiences.

The upcoming Easter break provides an opportunity to enjoy some time with family and friends and recharge for the next quarter. I hope you all have a safe and relaxing long weekend.

Thank you for your continued efforts on behalf of UWA.

Forward Focus

Being one of the welcoming faces for incoming and current students at the School of Indigenous Studies (SIS) is just one of the things Sabrina Swift enjoys about her job.

Coming from the Bardi people from north of Broome and the Gija people in the East Kimberley, Sabrina knows what it’s like to be new to a community and hopes she can play a role in helping students find their feet at SIS.

Around Campus

With a focus on participation and having a good time, the UWA Kids Holiday Program is excellent for introducing kids to new sports in a friendly environment. You can now enrol your kids online for the April program.

Salary packaging is also available - head into the UWA Recreation and Fitness Centre to set it up.

The University will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday, while the campus will be a little quieter next week due to Study Week.

We wish you all the best over the Easter break and look forward to seeing you back for the last half of Semester 1.
