We’re fighting for neighborhoods we love and a city we believe in – won’t you support us?
to GVSHP’s mid-year appeal.
We’re in the middle of an exceptionally consequential year.
We’re fighting to ensure that the Mayor’s 14th Street Tech Hub plan, which could accelerate overdevelopment in our communities, isn’t approved UNLESS neighborhood protections for Greenwich Village and the East Village come along with it. That decision will be made in August.
We need to push for legislation and other measures that will help end the plague of empty storefronts and small businesses being forced out, and are expecting important hearings later this summer.
We need to fight the lawsuit by a developer seeking to muzzle us and other community groups for daring to oppose his development plans.
Will you make this possible?
We’ve already accomplished a lot this year.
We stopped the Mayor and real estate interests from lifting a state cap on the size of residential buildings allowed in New York City, which would have allowed the Mayor to ‘supersize’ development in our neighborhood and neighborhoods across the city.
We stopped a plan by the Landmarks Preservation Commission to cut the public out of the process and move more decisions about changes to landmarked buildings behind closed doors, where the public would not know about or be able to comment upon them.
