March Event

Marston House Museum

Saturday, March 31, 2018
9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m
3525 7th Avenue, San Diego

Thank you, Vern Elmore for this suggestion.

As you face the house from the street, meet on the grassy area on right side.

From the website: The Marston House is located in an early twentieth-century historic district. There is no parking on this residential street. For your convenience, there are several choices for parking. Utilize the ample free parking all along Balboa Drive, Sixth Avenue, Upas and Thorn Streets. Parking for disabled or elderly: Friends or family should deliver disabled or elderly guests to the front of the Carriage House and assist them in their arrival. Vehicles should then be immediately moved to the parking areas noted on the parking map.

Public bathrooms are located in the parking area near the playground on Balboa Drive at Thorn Street, indicated on the parking map with an orange circle. The permanent facilities at the Marston House are limited.

If you are interested in visiting the museum it opens at 10:00 a.m and the tour fee is $15 for adults, $12 for seniors (65 and older). Tours are 40-45 minutes in length and start every half hour.

Lake Miramar, San Diego

Meet at benches close to the restroom. Park in the large parking lot. NOT the first parking lot on the left.

Our very own Tricia De Luna's time was won by several San Diego Unified School District students in a fundraising auction! We will be helping Tricia fulfill her obligation by inviting them to our event at Miramar Lake. Our very special guests will include 2 of her colleagues (helpers) and 5 art students. Let's show the students what a great activity urban sketching can be!

Lake Miramar is a reservoir located in the Scripps Miramar Ranch community of San Diego and is a popular recreation site. Activities include boating, fishing, picnicking, and the use of an over
5 mile long trail wrapping around the lake. The last time we had an event at Miramar lake was in 2013.

Please note the time as it is different from our other events. It is on a Thursday afternoon.

Many of you will recognize Caroline Kreiser, San Diego Urban Sketcher and Lionel King from Australia. Lionel visited and sketched with us many times in the past few years. This month Caroline traveled to Australia and looked him up! These are photos of Carolyn and Lionel and their sketches from Ballast Point Park, Sydney, Austrailia. Lionel also gave Carolyn a tour of the area!
These photos were taken when Carolyn sketched with the Sydney Sketch Club. Hmmm, I think we need a stamp.

If you are interested, please send a letter of interest and description of qualifications to Peggy Wong at
The Volunteer Sponsorship Administrator would be working with our amazing Sponsorship team (Raylie in NY and Omar in Berlin) who are delightful. It involves helping them track what they're doing on a spreadsheet and making sure that sponsor logos and info is passed on to me, writing thank you notes to sponsors and keeping us on track. It involves liaising with our super sweet Social Media Coordinator Noga in Florida, our fabulous Treasurer Gail in Seattle, our amazing Editorial Admin Tina in Seattle and our wonderful Tech guy Paul in Chicago. It involves occasional Skype meetings. Here's the link if you're interested:…/1ZZkksQnINuJGcz4Apt2YusG71K…/edit…
